As of when I am posting this the petition now has just under 300,000 votes. What do you think of all this?

It seems hurtful not only to the community, but also the developers to remove 2/3 of the mobs, since so much thought, effort, and time is put into conceptualising the mobs and making the animations. All 3 are always great ideas, we shouldn't lose any of them.

I think when it comes to votes, instead of mobs, we should get a vote for which older system of Minecraft needs an update FIRST. Give us a reason to use minecarts again, give us a new use for potions, give us a revamp of the older structures. Instead of just new content, why not look to the past and improve upon it?

They should move on. But if they are going to keep the vote for more engagement and discussion, then the biome vote should be it. We are always going to have the updated biomes eventually.

I think the mob vote should stay, but change, instead of voting for the mob we want to join minecraft, we should vote for the mob we want to join minecraft first. For example, imagine if the crab won, he would be in 1.21, if the armadillo is second, he would be in 1.22 and if the penguin is last, he would be in 1.23

I think the main reason people are upset is the lack of previous mob/biome votes added later. People feel like it’s just throwing the other into the trash bcz thats how it has been so far. The only one who came back is frog

I think its perfectly fair for the community to be upset about potentially game changing features to be locked behind a vote. We NEED something to show exactly whats happening to the losers (Are they getting scrapped?). Mojang stated in the first ever vote that those losers were getting scrapped. Then in the next vote they stated that the loser wasn't getting scrapped and might be added in the future. They never said it for the others.

I would prefer it if we were voting for which one to add first to the game, because then you still keep the whole voting aspect and then the people who voted for the losing mob wouldn’t feel as bad because they know that the mob is still coming but just at a later date

Mojang needs to understand that it's not just information that is the problem. Minecraft is built as a community. It is a game for everyone. The mob vote, in it's democratic nature, is about divide. The minority of votes for certain mobs loses. Minecraft even made an update for inclusiveness for the community, and still held a vote. They are divided us to competition and making it where some of us lose. They don't just need to change it because of fairness, they need to change it to keep Minecraft's important community

I think the big problem is that they're using the excuse that it would be too hard to do all three mobs. If they had stated from the beginning that this was an event so that the community could put a creature into minecraft. Not to add a bunch of new things to minecraft. It probably would have gone by better. The moment they started making faulty excuses, they made it worse. They shouldn't complain about having to work. They should double down on it just being a fun thing they do

Honestly the biggest problem I've had with a lot of recent Minecraft updates is synergy with older aspects of the game. For example archaeology could have tied in to everyday Minecraft play by having to use the tool and interact with excavating as regularly as you do with the other tools like the pickaxe and the shovel and the hatchet. Instead it feels like the sort of detached mini game where you have to go out and put in a lot of effort into even beginning to do archaeology and then the rewards for the amount of time and effort put in are extremely poor. Imagine if you could be starting a new Minecraft world going into your first cave and then you see some suspicious sand and a copper vein. You could make a brush and then excavate for a potentially half-broken but enchanted ancient pick axe or sword to boost your early game progression. Getting diamonds and emeralds as the top-tier loot feels really lazy.

I think it's just the straw that broke the camel's back. So many unwelcome changes have been made to MC lately that players are just irritated.

"Add all three" is not toxic. Making people choose while it's possible to add everything or just promise less, is toxic.

I feel like, to make people satisfied, and to keep making these announcements in (kind of) the same fashion, Mojang could introduce a system, where they allow the community to give them ideas for new mobs/bioms or such. The team would then choose the top10 (or maybe even more) to then be put into a randomizer. The randomizer then chooses which candidate gets included in the upcoming update. This would still keep the community involved in the updates, but not be a vote, that can be easily manipulated if you're a cult leader with a big following. I don't really care about the mob vote, and I do think it's a fun way to keep the community included in the development of the game, but seeing how the majority of the community disagrees with that, I think a new system would be way more fair for them.

There should just be no more mob votes. Just tell us youre working on a new mob. No choice.

I understand that adding official features into a game is always way harder then modding something of equal content, but I still find it really weird how little content that Mojang is able to add with the time and resources they’ve been given. I find the mob vote a lazy way to justify not adding the content that they could’ve by giving the community a choice on specific content rather than simply adding the content in regular updates.

dog armor/the armadillo would’ve been such a great addition to the trails and tales update since it mainly focused on decor.

I wish they would put their energy into refrshing some of the older updates. I think there should be recursive updates where some of the biggest biome additions, mob additions, and mechanic additions get tweaked and improved. For example: the update aquatic didnt add an abyssal ocean, but thats because the world height didnt have 64 more blocks to play with. Now that theres deepslate, there can be deeper oceans and with those could come new mobs that make sense to be down there, like bioluminescent fish, plants, maybe a giant squid and sperm whale. The combat update seriously needs a recursion as well: new weapons, shields, and armour could be added in interesting ways. Dont even get me started on crops and farming and food...why mushroom stew and beetroot soup no stack mojang what the hel X'D there should also be new food types and cooking and kitchen stuff added to really add a cosy sense to eating in the game. Maybe leave the staples like bread, baked potatoes, all the meats, but add things that can be made with bread and potatoes and meats. And sweet berries kinda have no real purpose right now, we need a pie or sweet berry cake of some kind. I really think that focusing more on these smaller details would really set development apart because, while sweeping updates with large new systems and mobs are awesome and i have made a museum dedicated to the tales and trails update and archaeology, sometimes the little things make the difference.

All I want is for them to just add all of the mobs or just pick the ones they want to add, I don't like having infighting and argument and regret in the community that all of these mob votes cause every single year

The main problem with these mob votes are we get 1 mob and lose out on 2. And there is no solution to this problem other than give all three or don't even show us the options. Just every time they do a vote I feel bad more than good. Combine that with we don't even get to play with the new addition to the game for over 6 months in final release format. If anything, they need to can have a vote and the winner gets released immediately after Minecraft live and the other two mobs get released over the coming months. That way we essentially vote on what we want immediately in the game now :)

Should've returned to the biome vote, because we are sure that the loser are eventually be updated into the future. I. E. Mangrove swamps and mountains with goats That way they can explore more not only on biome diversity, mob ambience (lucky if they got function) but it will add exploration, beauty and concepts we never thought it might fit in. If next year's vot will be biomes, it should compose of these sample biomes: Bioluminescent Water cave Amber remnants Blueshroom grove With the theme which is former concepts of deep dark and new cave biome. They can explore beyond the limits of "real life" biomes while keeping the realism of that supposedly real life biomes. It's win win! The winner will be updated while the loser returns in about 1-2 years

Honestly I don’t expect them to put all three in but I think running a mob vote remix(comprised of previous mob vote losers) along side the annual mob vote(that brings new concepts) basically this would mean that if a mob loses on its initial run it could always come back in a remix. Also it wouldn’t be too much as it would be just one more mob that had already be conceptualized

I think they need to drop the exclusivity. First place gets in next update. Second place (if at or above 15%) the update after that. Third place (if at or above 15%) gets in the update after the second. (Percentage up for debate) That way they can gage community interests and they stop scrapping mobs, that people want to have. (It's also more fair for mobs, who have the game rigged against them: copper golem and penguin, as they are both far less useful than an alternative mob).

I never really cared about having to choose, but this time, each of the mobs are something people have wanted for ages. I get with whimsy fantasy creatures with new ideas, but.. people have wanted a penguin for ages, but the mob has no great use in the game the crab gives better reach, but the mob itself isn't anything that special, I guess the armadillo is cute, and it would add to biomes that have kind of been neglected. but the dog armour is more cosmetic than anything no matter what people will be disappointed

They should instead have a vote on all the mobs that didn't make it in previous mob votes, and the top 3 are added to the game. 1. It gives more content, and 2. It gives the lost great ideas (moobloom, etc) a chance to be reintroduced. If they did this, where the top 3 mobs would win, I think it would cause less division and backlash, as well as give a bigger pool of ideas and options to choose from. (they can also do votes with new mobs, biomes, etc like this as well).

I think that next year's update should be postponed to instead have an update implementing many of the forgotten mob and biome vote options.

honestly, this years mob vote seems more like an item vote, but I still like all the concepts for the mobs

People fail to realise that in 2017 Earth con 1st mobvote, Jeb stated that this was mobs that where never intended to get into the game in the first place, it was just something for the player to vote as an extra. Id rather get 1 mob than never know we had those choises.

The Mob votes are hard, because all of these features that the mobs come with are features that Players have been asking for, for years. But Minecraft never seems to listen to us, and instead gives us useless mobs in updates and makes us vote over mobs we've wanted forever.

There are a lot of cool mobs in minecraft dungeons that could be added to the main game, Mojang already has the base but doesn't want to use it...

Honestly at this point I am so angry that my preferred play style (flatworld) is pretty much destroyed by the villager changes that my interest in the game is waning. The Mob vote is icing on the cake. As usual there is one mob in it that I have any interest in at all. Over the years has the Mob I wanted ever won? No. By design 2/3 of choices will lose leaving many people disappointed. It will be the same this time. I am really thinking it might be time for me to shelve the game until such a time as something happens to change things.

One of the reasons I was going armadillo was a gamble that since it can spawn in savana the devs could take the opportunity to update the savana biome like we had the option in one of the biome votes so ostrish , termites and baobabs maybe on top of the armadillo.

I don't want them to stop making mob votes, I just wish they wouldn't scrap the losing mobs. It wouldn't be hard to bring back old mob vote mobs in future votes, in fact it would be a huge save of effort and time on Mojang's part.

They should add at least one mob in theme with the update then one more to improve an existing biome/Dimension for example the glare should have just been a part of the caves and cliffs update

They really shouldn’t do the mob vote anymore cuz we would still love all of them to be added, not have only one win and then lose some good ones when they have the resources to add all three. They can do a biome vote instead or something that doesn’t feel like a permanent loss

Mojang developers: The mob vote is here so we can have fun! The community: We're not having fun, can we try something else? Mojang developers: Ugh. This is hard work. Stop being toxic. They can't have it both ways. If they are doing something for us, then they need to listen to us. I don't believe for a second that the people working on Minecraft are lazy, but honestly it's not wrong to call the company environment that holds them where they are just that, an environment that bleeds stunted progress and lazy veils of work where nothing but bureaucracy and investor decisions lay. There are reasons that development takes so much time, but those reasons shouldn't be a shield to protect them from backlash, they should be a mountain that we climb together - us and the developers who just want to make something fun. It's sickening and heartbreaking to hear nothing but destain for us. Coming from the team that we're trying as hard as we possibly can to talk to, have a real conversation with about our experiences with their product. Votes have never been for the people, they have always been a manipulative tactic to divide and conquer. They are feeling the consequences of The People seeing through that.

Mojangs rea problem, is that they seem to focus more of the quantity of Minecraft, rather than quality. Having the voting system is cool, but we don’t really need to have them. Maybe have a vote event every few years instead of every time there’s gonna be another update. Not to mention we have a Zombie Horses, but they never naturally spawn. We can only get them in creative mode. There are even other things in Minecraft that are pretty old and could use updates, but we never get them. It seems updates have gone downhill after The Nether Update, which is kind of sad. Don’t get me wrong, I love the ancient city, but it was overhyped, even with the “wild” update being the one that gave us The Warden, and a big city, but other than new stuff, Sculk, and story, there really isn’t any other reason to go there.

The issue with the mob vote this year is that ALL three fetures have what the player has been asking for YEARS! Penguins, Dog Armor, and crabs/further reach. All were on monecraft feedback for years. The issue is that according to the rules, we can only choose one and all the other nobs/features will technically never be added. All the years before, the mob vote was too one sided and "obvious" ao people said it was rigged. Now, they all are great and people dont want to choose.

I think that the mob vote should only consist of fictional mobs and when they are presented for a vote, none of them have an ability. Then after the community votes for who joins the game, the mob should get a feature. This way there are no game functionality ideas left out.

I just wish mobs from previous mob votes would get another chance to be in the game. Or maybe an alteration to the mob vote system were after one mob gets added to the game and then the roster of options stay the same but a new mob takes the place of the one that already got added in.

I think if anything, the Mob/Biome/Block Votes need an entire revamp as in that, no matter who wins, the loosers still get added in. If i was doing a Vote with those 3 Mobs, it would be rather about who get's the high priority fo getting added first. The one who wins get's added into 1.21 while the other 2, depending on their places, will be added then in the upcoming 1.22 and 1.23 versions. Same should go for Biomes and Blocks. I think this solution of a vote would be a win win for all sides and thus also Voting really can be fun, building hype and everything because in the hindside of mind, even if your fave doesn't win, you don't have to worry that they won't get added, they'll just be put on a waiting list. Don't mind me, it makes me also angry how every time there is a Vote, they make you choose what get's added while the other options are then most likely discarded for life and this is something that is not ok. Imagening that you're getting hype and fun over a feature but then at the end it doesn't win and is basicly "lost forever" ruins said fun and hype. I honestly adore the looks of all 3 Mobs of this Vote, it makes it really hard to choose, i really wished they all could be part of Minecraft, yet since we only can choose one i have to think about who benefits the most "to me". This goes to anyone in the community, a lot of people want the Claws because it will make Building easier, a lot of people want the Dog Armor because they want them to be part of their advantures, a lot of people....well okay Penguin is just kinda a Dolphin reskin, but it's ADORABLE. Every year this kind of vote just splits the community and only one side wins while the others loose. Please just add them all in so that "everyone" and i mean literaly "everyone" can benefit. Don't split the community.

I love the work the developers do. If I may suggest something and im not sure how long it would take what if we voted on biome overhauls bringing biome specific animals, blocks, flora, structures. So minecraft can just complete a whole biome over course or two years or however long it takes. Ide love to see an area for icecream, seagulls, treasures and rockpools with crab cages and shrimp nets. An area for silver birch, mossy logs, hollow logs, snowdrops, deers, hares and swans or a dark area with a graveyard and pumpkin fields and scarecrows with crows flying around and flies or something?

Biome vote would be sooo much better. Biomes are way bigger and more impactful than mobs, they literally change terrain generation where as mobs are just something that sometimes spawns in some areas and looks neat. Mojang should have the budget to add more than 1 mob every 2 years.

Yes, I'm disappointed at this year's mob vote but I feel like it's not the developers' fault that the mob vote is like that considering that the final say will still come from the higher-ups. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

If Mojang goes through with this, the idea is to get them to give us all the mobs, it says this in the petition.

My issue with the MOB voting is that number one once a MOB has been chosen it's never revisited. In other words no matter how many MOBs were in the vote the only one that ever gets put into MineCraft is the winner and the others are never seen again. The next problem I have is that the majority of the time they have by their own admission programmed all of the MOBs into a testing version of minecraft. I understand that the testing version is a walled garden situation where they can't properly test for variations in system configurations. I also understand that lots of the time they are very busy and very pressed for time.

My biggest problem is the if mojang makes 2 mid mobs and one good mob its rigged but if they make 3 good mobs 2 of them will be gone forever

I've never really been a fan of the voting system personally because I feel no matter what, you get 1 mob voted in and 2 or more are missed out on, there's a sense of loss for what we could've had, always felt that way, something that comes to mind is when some outvoted content is said to be planned for later releases, I recall this specifically for some biome votes, example, when the goat was voted in via a biome vote, and the frog from the same vote was implemented later, I found myself pleasantly surprised maybe instead of leaving out the outvoted content, perhaps all content shown in votes should eventually make it into the game, but the vote winner takes priority, with the second highest vote result being the next one to be implemented, then once all vote options are introduced, then a new vote is announced with new ideas. a main concern with this idea would be if we were to want previously outvoted content eventually come to the game, as there is quite a back log of them, if you include the 3 mobs that were outvoted when phantoms were voted in, the sea monster, shield blaze, the great hunger thing, vulture, moobloom, iceologer, copper golem, glare, tuff golem, rascal, as for time and resources, I'm not quite sure, perhaps no deadlines for implementation with vote content could help remedy any concerns????? (as of typing this I see that others have the same or similar ideas, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one)

To be honest, i think these votes are in theory a pretty awesome thing. However, i am not sure what happens to the 2 Mobs that did not get picked? Do they pick up on them in a later Mobvote again, or are they then scrapped for good? If you ask me, in terms of a priority system to decide which to take first and getting in the discussion of the mechanics is very valuable. However, if it is like pick one and loose out on the rest, then it is clear why people are upset. Also there should be a possible official place, to give feedback on each of these mobs and they should maybe always pick one of the old Mobvote candidates into the new Mobvote. So like 2 new, one old one. That way they can still get creative with new ones, they have more time to go in depth with the 2 new ones and maybe even think about crossfunctionality with other mobs they introduce. At least that is what i think. It would be better for development, better for the community and better for the old ideas as a total. But feel free to disagree :)

They really need to just make the vote determine priority or something, people would stop fighting so much if they knew the one they wanted could still be made, it really creates an 'us versus them' mentality cause its 'all or nothing.' Since anything that loses is basically gone forever. Making you feel not great before, during, and after the vote. It generates attention for sure, but not a lot of good attention, the votes more stressful than anything at this point, hen it was supposed to be fun.

I kind of just want like every 3rd or 4th vote to be previously scrapped mobs to get a another chance. Then if you keep going, you'll eventually get a pool of "underdog" mobs that lose 2, 3, maybe even 4 times in a row that people suddenly have an interest in due to how the game changed since they were first voted on. It'd also give hope for the future for the people who really wanted one of the mobs who lost.

The mob vote has problems, while we have been assured since that the ideas aren't outright scrapped, unlike the first, we've yet to hear anything about the losing mobs, besides the moobloom jokes. The solution isn't to cancel the mob vote though, a better solution would be something I and probably others have suggested, a losers vote, where at least one year, preferably more, they make a mob vote for a group of mobs from the previous votes. Not only would this allow a greater satisfaction as the less popular mobs get a chance, but it would mean mojang wouldn't have to make three entirely new mob concepts.

I will never forget the glare. Bedrock is always overlooked and not managed as much as Java. But the glare was going to be really helpful to lots of bedrock problems.

I think we should have very loose concepts for mobs to choose from. Like the first vote, with the phantom. We chose the intent of the creature, and it's environment. Like for example, A fast flier in the nether, a slow large monster in the woods, or a mage hidden deep in a dungeon.

Mojang deserves this heat, their excuses of "We cant add all three because we are working on bug fixes and preformànce patches for all the different platforms" is bullshit. The switch version still runs like dogwater. A $30 modern game, barely runs. And it aint the Switch's power because when Console edition ran on the Switch before it was replaced by Bedrock, it ran beautifully. This is 100% Mojang incompetence.

Would be better if the mob vote would be a way to see the in game play trailer of the mob that wins all three are promised during the big update but you only see the gameplay of the mob that wins. Then everyone who loses just has to wait for the update reveal to see the mob models etc.

I think a good solution is to add an old mob to the mob vote OR to just add a previous loser in the next update regardless of the current mob vote.

I wish they’d bring back biome votes. Sure it’s not fixing the problem but it added a bit more to places that felt barren. Instead of a mob we’d get maybe a new plant, a mob, and an item. It was a great way to improve the game and engage the audience. Plus it would mix it up as we’ve had mob votes year after year.

I just am upset that people are so decided on the armadillo, its the least gameplay altering of the 3, wolf armor is practically useless since wolves arent even used normally, and it would be quite uncommon to get aince it only drops from the armadillo

okay listen. revolutionary idea. We still do the mob vote, but instead of only one mob getting in, all of them get in. The winner gets added in the next update (1.21) The other two get added two updates from now (1.22)

I think people are getting WAY too into the emotions of not getting what you want…. Would it be nice to have all 3 mobs added? Well, yes…. But it’s been stated just how much work goes into to just one mob to add it to the over all game. I personally did make a comment on another vid about not voting at all…. But only because I want more info about the mobs they are showing us. So much potential is there for each, though I personally really want to see the armadillo and especially the wolf armor… I do think maybe there would be a better way to implement the wolf armor than a new mob… I still think they could surprise us with some very interesting quirks for both the armor and the armadillo. People just need to step back and breathe for minute. It’s not worth petitions and hate. It’s just a game.

I think the best way they can make people happy is the next mob vote should be comprised of nothing but previous losing mobs. Like people say, it feels less like they're adding one new mob but scrapping two perfectly good mobs. So why not give some past favorites a second chance? Like do a Iceologer vs Copper Golem vs Rascal vote.

I personally don't agree with the mob vote idea. I believe it should be more of a "biome overhaul," such as the Caves and Cliffs Update, or the Swamp Overhaul. I personally think this is a better way to go as A: Those two updates were fairly notable and, at least for the Caves and Cliffs update, changed how a lot of people play the game (explore caves, etc...). In addition to this, the mobs which are being added sometimes don't feel like thy "fit" with everything else, most notably the Sniffer, which is one of the stranger mobs in the game, with the addition of the Phantom. In my opinion, these two mobs don't exactly fit with the game, and, for one of them, are seen as more annoyances than additions. At least with biome overhauls, the mobs would be specifically designed to fit with an "aesthetic" that the many biomes of the game have, which would make the mobs more interesting. An example of this is the Husk, which spawns in specific places. It is a tankier version of the zombie, which adds a bit of a challenge every now and again. Lastly, it would make the voting more notable: it would make the voting have a much larger impact. If this were a thing, I feel like the biomes to overhaul wouldn't be "shelved" like the mobs that never made it, but they would rather cycle and appear again later down the road, where it can be re-voted.

My biggest problem with this years mob vote is that the mobs are not creative. Like with the past mob votes there was really cool concepts like the iceologer and the rascal. But this mob vote is just regular animals and I felt like this years vote could have benifited from a biome vote instead. Like with the spruce biome and the introduction of the fox.

honestly bringing some of the past mob vote misses as a sort of loser round of sorts might make some players happy because at least the mobs that were not chosen that were good can be revoted for

The mob vote is not fun and Microsoft behind Mojang is a megacorp. We cannot keep defending them with the old "uh it's actually separate teams and it's hard to implement on so many platforms" because it is not. Maybe it would be for an indie studio, but not for mojang

The problem I see is once things have been in the vote but weren't added to the game the chances are quite low of them getting added to the game ever in the future and by this we have lost many cool and interesting features

I would actually be content with the voting system if we could do some loser brackets and finish up the old stuff before adding more concepts

I feel like instead of a mob vote, they host the biome votes again, and have a region specific mob come with it. The other two who dont get voted, get added in the following updates over the course of 3 years.

Structure vote would be great but instead of telling us what the Structure actually is it would be better if mojang give us the base, for example the theme of the Structure, what type of mobs/Items it will have and once the vote ends then the mojang devs make the Structure based on what they said in the vote trailers to surprise us and also to avoid make false promises

I think everyone is kinda missing the mark on why this is happening. We’ve been doing these votes forever and yeah they were fun at first, but there is a serious case of people thinking “what if” with the past ones. Slowly over time people are getting more and more unsatisfied with them. Plus, people who say there’s hate attached to this are listening to the maybe 5% of people who are actually upset about this. Plus, the argument of “they’re adding things that others want but not me” is kind of unfair when typically over 50% of people voted for the other two mobs in the first round. That’s a lot of people who didn’t get what they would’ve liked. I’m sure most of us just want more updates without thinking “what if”. And maybe hearing “the ones that do not win will never be added” stings more, especially when we’ve been promised the other biomes from biome votes will get those updates eventually (even though most of those haven’t happened yet). I dunno man, personally I think they should spread the votes out like three years apart then I think people will have cooled down from the last one.
