There are several therapeutic options for Class II cases. One of them, when the problem is in located in the maxilla, is the distalization of upper molars. In the presented case, a mini implant was used as anchorage, and the distalization was performed through a compressive loop. Once the correction of the molar relationship was completed, a tooth-to-tooth distalization protocol was implemented until complete retraction of the upper arch was achieved.
Personally, I favor applying distalization force from the buccal side rather than palatally. This approach generally leads to a faster correction of the Class II molar relationship due to the inherent mesio-vestibular/disto-palatal rotation of the molar itself, favoring a quicker correction.
