Widowed mom of four kids7-12. What’s helped me the most is having a check list for each child - (laminated with a dry erase marker) to do list. So they dont come downstairs in the morning until they’ve checked off the things that I constantly repeated- brushing teeth, making bed, etc. same before breakfast- put laptops in backpacks, etc. When the morning goes smoothly, we have time for heart work. It makes a huge difference. I was always against chore lists and charts even for myself because I am someone who marches to the beat of her own drum and I was disgusted by the idea of being told what to do - even ME, MYSELF, by way of lists. BUT I changed my mind after how well I’ve gotten to know my children. There’s no replacing that! :)

I think my biggest struggle with productivity is a mismatch between goals and reality. I want to do way more than I can manage with three sets of twins 6 and under. It's hard to see just spending time with my kids as "productive" because the other tasks keep piling up. You're right, of course, that it actually is time well spent. Sometimes it's mandatory in order to keep them from being destructively inquisitive.

@Miss Sunrise maybe it isn’t really adhd. I don’t know. But I just can’t focus. My memory is shot. But I’ve also been pregnant or nursing straight for the past 11 years. So who knows? But I think the addiction to a phone thing comes from stress and mental overload. It seems calming to sit and avoid the decision fatigue to watch someone else’s seemingly ordered life. But the real calm comes from actually doing something. Even if it’s just a small something. Let’s go do a small something right now ;)

Thank you so much Angie!!! I just listened to this video 4 times through while I was busy getting "things" done... God knew I needed to hear this today. I am a perfectionist and I cant stand disorder to the point of never having fun because I want everything done😥 and it at times get my emotions in a wad and I become plain grouchy🙁 God has talked to me recently about making time on purpose to converse with my children, to hear their hearts more often, to share my heart with them, to allow my husband to feel more relaxed at home as well, and not having to deal with his wife being all in a tizzy because she is trying to get a week done in a day😒 and that means I have to let some things go at times. My children need me to be in their world not off somewhere else all the time. Children need the gift of our eyes a lot more often then I have made time for it😣 I love my little family God has gifted me with and I can clearly see more then ever that changes are needed! Thank you so much for your tips and ideas and the sweet kind heart you have to sharing all this with us!! 💜 it was SOOO helpful. Can't wait for my husband to get home so i can share this with him! I know he has been praying for me in this area but it just wasn't clicking until today. I grew up VERY structured, my husband did not so that has been our biggest struggle as to how to meet in the middle. I must say he has met me lots more then I have him😣💜 I don't think id have the patience he has to live with me! But anyway this all helped lots! Have a good day! God bless!

Following you about 5 or so years now and you remain relatable and honest. I have stepped away from pretty much every other vlogger/influencer (though I did not follow many) b/c they climb the ranks and they change ,but not for the best. You noy only grow in channel but even more so as a beautiful person. You use your platforms so well and I never just feel like an "influenced" victim. I love this! It can be so easy to get caught up in the comparison trap of “I don’t get as much done as so and so” My mantra lately has just been “don’t waste time” that’s it. Whatever that looks like, just use my time well and don’t waste it. You are on my wavelength. I want to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. That could be anything, even laying down and having a nap with my baby if that’s what I need in that moment.

As a young sham with one toddler, I would love to hear how you managed when you only had 1-2 kids. I am so tired and struggle most days to even do my hair and put on makeup. If I may share my routine to help you as well? My best days and when I have the most energy are when I wake early… I’m talking 5:45-6am. Getting the upstairs of the house picked up and all things put in their “homes”. Throwing a load of laundry in, doing the dishes, get my tea for the morning. I bought the Golden Coil planner (customizable planner) and it has been a game changer for planning my days!! I highly recommend it! Totally worth the price. I do my devotions, and sometimes while doing dishes and laundry I find a KZfaq video about cleaning or organizing or homeschool etc to get ideas and motivation. It’s about doing the same thing getting in a routine continuing to do it even if it’s not at the same times every single day but that’s really what’s helped me and also picking up a room before I leave it. My children are 5, 3’and five months and my older two are just starting to help around the house a lot more. I have a lot more I can say but I don’t wanna take up all your time. You can do it!! 🙂

@@thetreasureinthefield I appreciate this! I have really struggled with waking up earlier than her since having her because 1. She wakes up so early and 2. My ppd kept me from having the energy. I like the idea of starting the day out with something productive (laundry, dishes, shower haha) so I’ll definitely try to add a little add a time as I find a routine. Thanks you (:

My children are grown now, but, when they were young I made it a point to always wake up early so I could have some time for myself before the hustle and bustle of the day started. It gave me the time to have my coffee, have some peace and quiet, and spend some time with the Lord before beginning my day. When it was time to begin my day, I started with the "hard" things, the things I always hated to do, so I would just take a deep breath and off I went. When I got those hard things done I rewarded myself, I gave myself some "me" time even though it was only like 15 or 20 minutes where I could sit down use the computer, read a book, or even start watching a movie that I had not seen. Once the day was done, and I always made it a point to stop at 5pm no matter what, that way my family could all sit down at the table and have dinner, and while I was cleaning up they were getting a game or a movie ready for family time. Once family time was over and the kids went to bed, it was finally "me" time again. Where I could just sit and have peace and quiet and wind down after a long day. It is very important to a persons health and well-being to be able to find those small moments of "me" time and it truly helps in preventing burn-out.

ANGELA! Thank you. Thank you thank you THANK YOU 😊 I'm feeling this soooo much! Would you share with us some of your "systems"? My heart yearns to have routines and rhythms, but I just get STUCK not knowing how to best create and carry them out. I didn't have the best example to follow growing up, and now I have 5 kids ages 5-12.... We cyberschool, and things just tend to get crazy-pants around here. 🤣 I've implemented SOME systems, but would absolutely love and appreciate to get a peek into your world of systems to maybe get some inspiration and ideas for our family. Again, THANK YOU for sharing this video!

Thank you! When do you fit in your cleaning? This is something that can be time consuming for me and often can get put on the back burner especially after a long day of homeschooling. I’d rather go for my jog, ya know what I mean?!

I loved your explanation of productivity is spending your time well. Especially, with the example of the walk with your tots or the talk with your teen. I "know" it but don't "live" it. I have that check list/to do looming over my head because ya know everyone needs clean underwear. But if I'm honest, too much of my time is on the to-dos.

MIT - You can also label them using letters A tasks have to get done today, B tomorrow, and C tasks after A and B then assign a number to each letter. A1 is the most important needs to get done today and right now.

The family rhythm chart you mentioned, could we get a look at that? Is it like a routine chart? Or is it a bit more relaxed? I love the idea, just unsure how to implement it. Thank you for this, I really appreciate the inspiration.
