There not costumes it’s regalia
@stephencannon66105 жыл бұрын
A "costume" is something you put on only once a year like a Halloween costume. These are not the same it's a way of life we dont put the on once a year and for get about them for the next year or so. We grow up with these teachings learning them from the time we were knee high to a grasshopper. We prefer to call it regalia not trying to be rude just trying to inform the uninformed.
@omarislas60295 жыл бұрын
A costume is clothing you wear to portray a character. What these dancers wear is called regalia. REGALIA has cultural significance from the colors to the designs.

Kiaora to the 1st nations indeginous native American people, much love & respect from your indeginous native Maori brother from Aotearoa, NZ. My heart is filled with joy & love to see your traditional culture is well & truly alive going forward into the future. I love the traditional dance. We as indeginous people know with out our culture & our language we are dead & doomed. But through all our struggles & our true history the Westernized culture tried to keep us down & to go as far as trying to anilate us people. But we came through all that adversity with our pride & mana intact. Kia kaha BLM & INALM (Indeginous Native American Lives Matter) also. One day we will celebrate together when all indeginous people will be united & have our autonomy. Much love & respect.

So wonderfull to see the Pow Pow. I am from the Netherlands. And I feel so many respect for the REAL American people. The warmth I feel in my heart to yours. I feel ashamed bout the American white suprematic conquerers who token your land away from you. They will never find peace and rest for civilisation the land you belong. As a child I remembered Wounded Knee. May there comes a time that your homeland will be yours again. May God bless you all. Best regards from The Netherlands.

Yes, most powwows invite respectful non-Natives as spectators. Some tribes will announce "inter-tribal" dance ( one song ) and allow non-Natives into the dance circle for that one song to dance, or maybe walk to the beat. Clothing should be modest. The powwows feature vendors of food, jewelry, art, flutes, drums, CD's of Native artists, etc. Most do not charge admission, unless the venue has high fees.
@dance4bliss Жыл бұрын
Are these American Indians?
@AmigoKandu Жыл бұрын
Yes, these dancers are enrolled members of tribes in USA, and Canada. Their ancestry goes back eons in North America.
