Yo, montana Millennial Man, I am not sure, but is there be any chance of a galvanic reaction between the stray electricity in that system plus the copper/stainless connections plus any special issue with gylcol moving through that particular system??? It may be a completely ridiculous concern but I wonder if you might need an anode or something. One would hate to erode pipes and require replacement or worse yet, a 24/7 nagging concern for a system collapse without a warning.

Use a wetting agent. The same that you put in your wet sleeved tractors. It should help with the heat transference. It should be safe with your system many of the same materials used in both systems. (brass, aluminum, possibly steel or cast iron but may be stainless steel)

Beautiful work. Note from.a.65 year old grandma. My husband has a utility room full of well, infloor heat, water filters, etc. He got sick 2/years ago and spent 2 months in the hospital. We had water issues when he was in there. I WAS LOST. When he got well I made him make me an operating manual for all of it. Pictures and all. I now have a 75 page manual on how it all works in case he is not around. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Aluminum foil is ALOT faster then wrapping all that in newspaper & tape! I’m so happy your family is settled into your new home. Nick’s family is next. It’s costs more for the labor to put those in floor heating & tankless heaters in then the system costs. Good thing you Welkers have a lot of skills so you can DIY.

We redid our well, water heater and water conditioner this past year. We went with a tankless water heater since we already had a gas water heater it will replace. That old tank heater was 40 years old !!!! When we replaced the water conditioner, we also added a water filter. We have really hard water and there is a "smell" to our water. I also upgraded our sump pump that included a battery backup. It was not cheap to do all this, but now we should be set for 20 years (at least).

Scott keep an eye on the fluid quality and metal parts for corrosion, in the PC market we find using copper with aluminum , steel or other dissimilar metals will cause what's known as bi-metal electrolysis, this starts slow but as one metal begins to dissolve into the cooling fluid it will speed up causing deposits to form and clog the system. Granted anti-freeze has anti-corrosion properties those chemicals merely slow the process. So like any cooling system and home HVAC units it's a good idea to do a scheduled flush

It makes sense on a sloped driveway (less for a flat), as the water will flow away into the drainage and you won't need any salt to keep it drivable and get to the (hopefully cleared) city roads. For him it would be a waste of resources and money...the slab is clear and 25 ft further you still need to drive through the deep snow...so there is 0 benefit in the heated slap. If he can't get out of the garage due to snow, he won't even get from his property (not to mention their property). They have vehicles around the corner to make the road drivable again.

Scott: You want to be sure to keep the Glycol away from your pets. it's sweet smelling and will attract them. If they drink it, it will kill them. Glad you cut it to a 50/50 mix, pure Glycol is very inefficient. Beautiful house!

nice work. i hope the gycol mix has a corrosion inhibitor it to prevent the galvanic corrosion between the copper and stainless parts. we had an issue with that in the UK where stainless steel was cheaper than copper so systems developed leaks at a later date due to the galvanic reaction.

When I was stationed in Alaska, the temp was -60 degrees. The floor heat, and only heat, in the hanger, which also heated the offices, failed. We brought in some gas powered heaters to keep the building from freezing. Base safety was concerned about carbon monoxide poisoning, and told us to shut off the heaters. We gave safety two choices. One, keep the heaters running and monitor the carbon monoxide, or two, shut down the heaters, let the building freeze, and the frozen pipes would be repaired in the spring. They left, and never came back.
