I discuss momentum and impulse and newtons second law, apply it to a broken egg and car safety devices such as crumple zones and air bags.
OOPS - small error at 2:00. The bullets momentum is 19.15 kgm/s, but the trucks velocity ends up being correct

The best video present in KZfaq in this momentum and impulse section. It helped a lot 🙂

When I calculate momentum of the bullet, I get (0.050kg)*(583m/s)=29.15kg*m/s Otherwise a GREAT video!

@PhysicsHigh I have a question about impulse. For a baseball player at home plate, is it impulse the instant he contracts his muscles to begin moving the baseball bat to hit the ball? If it is not impulse, what is the correct term please? Thank you!

when you say increasing the time do u mean until it stops?
@PhysicsHigh
@PhysicsHigh 3 жыл бұрын
yes, increasing the time for the event (to stop from a certain velocity) will result in the net force decreasing

Isn't (0.05kg)(583m/s) = 29.15 kg m/s ?????
@claraishungry501
@claraishungry501 3 жыл бұрын
i was just going to ask this
@olivergajkow5241
@olivergajkow5241 Жыл бұрын
No because you must convert 0.05kg to 50g because the Si unit must the same or change 583m/s to 161km/h
@ransomedrexler8529
@ransomedrexler8529 Жыл бұрын
@@olivergajkow5241 Incorrect. The unit is kg*m/s. Mistakes were made. He even converted the units to kg. He just did the math wrong.

why is the force the egg in the second demonstration much lower?
@PhysicsHigh
@PhysicsHigh 3 жыл бұрын
the egg take s longer time to slow down, that means it has a lower acceleration, thus the net force that causes this is less

A large snowball is rolling down a hill, as it rolls it's mass steadily increases from collecting more snow. Will it accelerate or decelerate as it rolls downhill?

Good question.

@@PhysicsHigh Thanks for the reply!...We know when a descending object is slowing, such as when an elevator is stopping, that this deceleration momentarily increases your weight. Would the opposite then be true, would gaining weight while descending cause deceleration, such as the snowball gaining mass?

@@PhysicsHigh Once again thank you for replying! My idea would be to somehow add mass to the Maxwell Wheel as it descends, but I can't think of how to do this yet?

@@PhysicsHigh I need help. If a little bit of mass at the top of a skyscraper acceleration down = less weight = less force down, and then as more and more floors of the tower began to fall and accelerate at 64% of G acceleration, from the top down, then would the tower be getting lighter and lighter to any of the supporting structure at the base of the tower? In other words, less and less weight force on the very bottom of the tower as the collapse progressed from top down, and where all the floors of the tower eventually fell one floor at a time, all of them in 64% of 1G acceleration?

Its similar to conservation concepts,decrease in time gets force increased and increase in time gets force decreased,anything may happen impulse tries to be conserved,am i right pal??
