Thanks so much Emily. Garland brings so much warmth to a room. I like them all, especially fond of the Alaskan Cedar. So sorry you had to say goodbye to your fur baby. We said goodbye to our dog a year ago. Had him just short of 21 years. Miss him so much. They’re a big part of the family❤️

You are right about things selling out. I have been looking for something for outside on my porch and what I was looking for was sold out! I ended up selecting the Sonoma Cypress one from Walmart that you featured today. I think I’m going to be happy with it.

Thanks for all the comparisons. I have several garlands collected over the years. I start with the cheaper ones as a base then layer the other more expensive one on top. I have a white fireplace so the dark green really stands out

Me too! As my base, I got 30 foot long cheapo garland at Walmart and jazzed it up. And I bought Handmade Holiday Christmas Metallic Decorative Mesh Ribbon 5.5''x30'-Red from Joanns. I bunched about 12-15" apart and fluffed, tied on at strategically selected spots and tied pine cones with wires on it. Then for my theme, I made B&W Buffalo check bows for the tied junctions. Came out gorgeous. For my mantle I get holiday sprigs in assorted greens and lay them on the mantle☆ then add accents like xmas balls, cones, cute xmas tree deco that stand, candles at different heights (☆avoiding expensive garland). Look around here and on the net for ideas you like and don't be afraid to cut something 🤣.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your fur baby.❤️🙏 They are truly family. My fur baby is 16 today, I have a small poodle who has been a real fighter. She had pneumonia for three months as a pup, double knee surgery at six months and back leg amputation at 6 years from cancer. We have been treating her quarterly with antibiotics for her teeth and gum infections for several years because she doesn't do well with anesthesia. The vet said since it's not working any longer he feels we need to do the cleaning November 1, with propofol and gas anesthesia. I don't want her in pain so I'm going to do a lot of praying my baby will make it.🙏❤️🙏 Thank you for your help with the garland and all your decor tips.

Emily this was so helpful. I am in the market for new garland and a larger wreath this year. I have a garland and wreath that I have used for YEARS, and I mean YEARS. It is still in good shape but it is not as flexible as the newer garlands. It also has a lot of red accents and I am leaning towards white no silver accents. I purchased a nativity last year that is white with some silver and I want a more natural garland with it. Thank you for showing all of these. I am leaning toward the cedar style for my mantle. Now I need to decide which one and make the purchase before they sell out!🙂

Thank you for such a comprehensive review. It does get pricey to test out the garlands. I got notice that your Alaskan Cedar garland set of two, went on sale, making it a good time to consider them. I find it hard to get ones that look more realistic as well. I keep trying though, a few each year.

This video was really helpful! I love the comparison of colors and textures. It was also neat how you showed the different types of stems and whether or not they drooped. Your ideas are fantastic! Nice to see that discount-type stores can actually carry some items that can be made beautiful. I usually head to a nursery or Hobby Lobby, but how cool that maybe I could find stuff at Target or Walmart! Nice comparisons with the diff types of garlands. Normally what I do is that I don’t worry about the pinecones or berries…which tend to be more expensive. I just picked up a nice, full lighted garland from Menards and since I live way up in No. WI in the woods, I can add the pine cones and dogwood berries into my garland. I have on occasion, purchased a big bundle of cut branches from the Christmas tree lot…mix long needles, to cedar, fir…It always turns out beautiful. The bells you picked up are beautiful!

I plan on making a side swoop with the bells and right where the swoop humps up, I plan to add some beautiful neutral ribbon to cover where the bells hang. I love combining the garlands together and making my own variants of garland. I have some gorgeous blue magnolia sprays from Cracker Barrel from last year. So excited to use.
