I'm quite confused about when you say that an increase in interest rates would lead to an increase in demand for assets at 4:00, I though assets were things like properties, so would demand not decrease if there was a higher interest rate on loans to buy these assets? or do you mean assets as in government bonds? just need some clarification if you would be able to help, thank you :)

Can low interest rates lead to a reluctance to lend? And if so could this be part of the reason that increasing liquidity through Quantitative Easing schemes hasn't lead to a large increase in lending?

why doesn't a change in exchange rate as a result of a change of base rate effect the total demand, e.g if base rate increases, the cost of borrowing is cheaper so firms will be willing to borrow more and invest in more imports (assume that the UK economy is currently experiencing a posotive output gap) then wouldn't the amount of imports increase causing AD to fall? I see how AS will be effected as there is more room for investment from firms but should it not effect AD, why is this not shown in the mechanism?
