i can respect certain qualities of him but not him overall. he was a destroyer of civilization instead of a cultivator of civilization.

I disagree. The man was a conqueror and he managed to unite all Mongolian tribes under his rule. His grandsons finished the masterpiece of the biggest empire man has ever seen. Mongols didn't deal in trade until Genghis took command. Trade on the Silk Road was flourishing. He was a smart guy that wanted to conquer the world and actually had the nerve to do it. Mongols brought more culture than most Europeans at that time( who were still stuck in The Medieval Era). He shaped civilisation as we know it today. Sincerely, Read a History Book on Mongols some time.

Hell of a movie, all the biggest and strongest warriors always had a very hard and brutual childhood, he lost everything close to him but in the end concured half the world! No small feat espically those times. Always follow your Khan.

He allowed those who surrendered to live in peace, also he may have been a brutal conquerer but he was often a benevolent ruler. He didn't try to stamp out local cultures, in fact he encouraged them to exist regardless of who was ruling them. And his main reason for spreading fear was arguably to avoid bloodshed at a future date, the next guy he attacked wouldn't put up a fight. Was he brutal? Yes. But so was Julius Caesar and just about any conqueror. Not saying it was okay, just saying

evolooshion The Mongolian Steppes are a tough, unforgiving environment. Genghis Khan had strict rules concerning treatment of guests and envoys. The nomadic Bedouin in the Arabian desert had similarly strict rules concerning guests etc. Genghis called himself the 'wrath of heaven' to evil-doers who broke these basic rules.

Also Russian Historian professors said Genghis Khan is a Turk, Turks origin from BC, We don't know Mongol tribe born. Turk is nation, Mongol is a steppe tribe.
