Not so strange if you consider that one's outward appearance doesn't necessarily dictate who they are on the inside. A beautiful woman used to not being seen as anything other than beautiful may look for the beauty within when selecting a partner. An unattractive man might want or need more from a relationship than just a beautiful woman on his arm. (that is, maybe she's dumb or not a good person) A beautiful woman may select an unattractive partner so there is no one to compete with her. An unattractive man may not be anymore immune from a midlife crisis or needing an ego boost than an attractive one. An unattractive man should not have to settle for being in an unhappy relationship just because his partner is considered attractive. Or maybe, just maybe, regardless of one's outward appearance, the relationships between attractive and unattractive people have the same ups and downs and failures just like any other relationship.

I lived in Brasil at the time Vincent and Monica moved to Rio. My kids attended the same school their daughters joined. There was a rumor in the french community in Rio at the time, which was very tight, that Vincent had set up his lover in an apartment close to the beach . It looks like each one of them found the younger version of the other in a third person. I do NOT agree with the part of infidelity. LOYALTY in love is key. Tina is very young, and has an entire life in front of her. Dealing with a man who has already made his choices, holding a big responsibility of being a father, is very challenging and demanding. Being the person cheated on, is never a good feeling.

The thing is, there’s more to a marriage than beauty and intelligence. A woman may not be as intelligent as another, but she feeds a man’s ego, may be a good cook, and may have more things in common with the man than the “beautiful and intelligent” woman you think of. Or vice versa. People work in different ways and they’re all different. Or one guy may be messy as hell and the woman can’t stand that. There’s so many things that cause a divorce. You can’t just see a celebrity on screen with makeup on, obviously knowing what to say in front of a camera due to years of experience and make such assumptions. It makes you look, well, stupid.

In general, there are 2 components to an Open Marriage. First, one person wants to be married and the other doesn't, so they are okay with the marriage being open. Or the one or both of them both want to sleep around and is okay with their other partner doing it.
