Trashed Dell Inspiron N5110 - Full Restoration and Upgrades

Hi everyone, thank you for 13:49 of your time. In this video we restored and upgrade trashed Dell N5110. The specs after restoration and upgrades are i7 2670QM, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB Nvidia GT 525 and 240GB SSD. It's a bit older laptop but still very useful today.

I've owned one of these since 2012 and use it to this day. It's the i5 2450M version with 6GB of RAM, and I'm using it right now to write this comment. Unfortunately, it's also in need of a good internal cleaning (overheating) and a repair of a broken hinge, and your video is such an inspiration for anyone who wants to do these repairs at home. Thank you very much!

Mate, what you said is the exact same case with me! Works fine for me even until now. Turned 10 this October. I'm having the same issues with overheating, gotta have it internally cleaned. Cheers!

@@soumyashreebiswal14 a clean on the heat sink system and thermal paste replacement and it will be good to go! Unless from the fragile hinges, this laptop is very well built and a good computer even today.

@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew @Cat and Andrew but for the longer videos please use chapter markers Andrew. Not every one of us can afford to just sit for a whole half an hour and watch KZfaq videos. But we love your work so please consider us. We may need to watch chapter by chapter like a novel so please mark the longer ones with chapters. PS: Guys like Jerryrigeverything have crazy editing skills to shorten videos like while removing 10 screws he only uses a couple of seconds. Time lapse also works. See some of his videos and you'll know what I'm talking about. This is a polite request. Thanks.

I've had mine since 2011 but haven't used it much since the hinge broke. Shockingly, it can still play Fortnite and Rocket League at respectable frame rates. That processor is a trooper.

Awesome job! I have the same laptop, and it's now in it's eleventh year, and still going strong. I've had it apart at least seven times (some mistakes made me go back in) to change the thermal pads/paste (I think this video shows just thermal past being used, but pads are better on one surface, I forget which), fan, base, battery. I was going to keep it going forever, but now I think it's time to get a new one before any new problems. But I'd love to upgrade it and keep it going, if I had the time...

I exactly have this model laptop and it still runs like a charm without issues. All it needs is change of thermal paste every 2 years. Changed the battery and keyboard at 8 year age of it. It's now 11 years old

I find it unbelievable how much good tech we waste... Specially in the so called "developed world". I have always wanted to CNC a new aluminium body for an old laptop, give it a shiny new look. Shout out to Endless team who is re-using old hardware and re-purposing it for people who need them in countries where tech can't be treated as toilet paper.

This is exactly the laptop I had from 2011 till a year ago. I bought the i7 2630qm with 6gb of ram and nvidia 525m video card. It lasted me through uni and beyond. Everything still works great and it's just as fast on day to day tasks as my custom built pc. It used to overheat, even with new thermal paste applied, so I used liquid metal instead. It now barely ever gets above 90 degrees. It has its resting place in my living room for cuasual web browsing and video watching. Cheers!

Great job. Old systems and games need not be forgotten. I like that you repair older systems. Consider doing desktop PCs. Id like to see that from you. All used parts sort of thing.

this laptop is kinda beast dude. I've used it from 2014 to 2020. Mine was i7 2670QM, 8G, 640G7200rpm. It was able to handle Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects in the same time. Altough the battery is sucks, 2 times get replace and then the IC charge is broken.

These videos also make me spend basically as much effort to restore laptops that I come to receive in all sorts of wrecked shape. Guess I don't go as deep in things like polish or soaking the case in water, but I do some basic motherboard and keyboard membrane repairs when it is deemed necessary...
