That's fine. I'd rather look at normally bright monitor and have it working perfectly for *at least* 5 years, than to get super bright monitors that burns itself some UI elements in 2 years already. (my eyes cannot stand even bright smartphones, I'm very photosensitive anyways)

Also the coating. Gloss is always awesome with OLED. Makes the perceived colors and brightness better IMO.

I have the LG OLED and use it at 50% brightness with no issue. I don't know why some people want to feel like they're looking at the sun with their monitors.

165-175 Hz on OLED already feels like 240 Hz LCD in terms of smoohtness. I hope we will see 38 inch OLED ultrawides soon as well. I don't want 27 inch OLED, I have been on 27" 1440p for like 10+ years NOT going to buy another 27" 1440p monitor in 2023. I am going ultrawide 3440x1440 or 32 inch 4K and I pref 240 Hz but I could probably live with 165-175 Hz if price is very good and DWF is coming down fast.

I know its a weird question,but... do u know if its possible to put off small white light at bottom edge ?? I dont really care about max bright because I mainly use at night,but that kind of light makes my crazy

I may be in the minority, but I really don't want to sit 18 inches away from a monitor that goes to 1000 NITS. My Odyssey G9 blinds tf out of me.

The only reason I would buy this is because I won't support ASUS after the x3d motherboard thing and I think its better than the LG

@@N0N0111 WOLED is still good but too pricey. 27" WOLED 1440p costs the same as 34" QD-OLED 3440x1440 and several of the QD-OLED models also have 3 years burn-in warrenty. I have a QD-OLED TV and I came from a LG G1 and QD-OLED has AMAZING colors in comparison (however 3rd gen WOLED (with MLA) has improved on this but only LG G3 has it and its very expensive. Competition is very good tho! Plan on going OLED for my monitor very soon. On my 3rd OLED TV and has been using OLED since 2016-2017. NEVER going back to LCD for TV and I can't wait to replace LCD on my monitor as well.

Yes I am happy to see a return to a world where computer monitors display beautiful crisp, deep black level and colorful images like back in the CRT days. LCD displays have always looked like garbage. They slightly improved over the decades but not by much

@@thethinkingbyte Sure thing. My home office is in a daylight basement with one window that is behind and to the right of the monitor. I have a LED back light strip on my desk behind the monitor. I can pull the shade and very little light will come in.

My compliant is the text render issue. It is noticeable and a little off-putting. I keep my old ASUS 27in 165hz as my work monitor because of that.

Congrats, I also recently got this display as well and it's been great! I was in the glossy screen camp but after seeing how good OLED tech displays colors and deep blacks the matte screen is no issue imo.

Do you not notice the grain of thia mattr screen? In certin colors i see the grain so bad that it ruining the picture.the grain is more noticeable when i look at the sky in games and in white background like browsing the web and in grey background.do you really not notice this matte grain?

i run my asus oled at 100% brightness in a pitch black room and would still say its too dim.

I'm in the same boat. For me, it's the price compared to the built-in shelf life. As soon as monitors of this spec get under $500, i'll for sure be considering them though.

I have had 3 OLED TVs and 10+ OLED phones, still have to experience any burn-in or even retention. It's overblown in my eyes. You need to ACTUALLY TRY and do burn-in to get it. I have 1000+ hours of gaming on several of those TVs with same HUDs for HOURS and HOURS, and nothing. Plus I use max brightness on all.

42" it's a TV, not monitor...

@@BOLOYOO Same thing could be said about 27-32" Screens just ten to fifteen years ago... Times Changing so are Preferences. Size alone doesn't make a TV. In my case I have a 32" Monitor and it just feels too small, especially when my future desk is about 110cm deep

£1500 for DP, just get a C2 for £900

@@GingerRuss75 In Germany the Phillips is around 1600€ and the C2 1150€. So a difference of 450€. If I go for the C2 route i need a USB-C Docking station to connect my Laptop/iPad with a clean one cable solution it should be a Dock with HDMI 2.1 or i need another Adapter that is at least 250€. So now we are at a difference of about 200€. Now I also need a Dp to hdmi afapter for my pc since my gpu has only one Hdmi connector and thats used already. Also the C2 does not give me a KVM switch... Which is pretty much necessary for a seamless switch between Laptop and Desktop Use, of course I could just always just switch cables... In the end it's a differenc of about 150-200€ When not buying a KVM switch with that the C2 gets more expensive. And the Phillips has all in one. Its simpler, cleaner and has less points of failure. If it would be a good solution I would already have bought a TV with all that

i to got this monitor, what was the old one you compared it too and the brightness setting in that? i went from a ips at 50% brightness and found this oled brighter, especially on small parts. the brightness stabilizer has to be off, and i enable hdr in windows 11 and then auto hdr, and set the sdr slider to about 25%

It's a pretty dense OLED which is still difficult and expensive to produce

TVs are always cheaper due to larger market, and they come with spyware, sponsors, and ads to subsidize the cost.

Buying a new monitor will be a big no no for me for quite a few years I guess. I have the Odyssey G7 and this one has obviously better HDR performance and response times but not everything is in HDR so that really low SDR brightness is a bummer. Oh and this Corsair monitor costs almost 3 times as much as the G7 did about a year and a half ago. Horrendous value compared to good, high refresh rate 1440p LCD monitors so far.

Do you activate brightness stabilizer ? And if so it’s still bright enough ?

@@Shepard313 At first, yes. After I updated to firmwave V102 it seemed not as prominent. It's possible I just got used to it and don't notice it as much. VRR flicker seems to be prominent in all the OLED monitors atm.

Did you see the brightness levels? no wonder they can give that warranty.

@@eliadbu The problem with the Asus ROG OLED is the lack of HDMI 2.1 support. For that price, I'd get a different option.

@@cameronbosch1213 it would make difference for consoles, but even then they are usually limited to 120hz anyway - which is supported over hdmi 2.0. I would not say that hdmi 2.1 would make large difference for most cases. For me anyway I would wait gen or two before buying oled monitor, non have what I look for - 4k, high refresh rate, high brightness for HDR.

But that's the point of an HDR monitor, brightness.

Dolby vision is pointless for gaming. Does not make a difference at all. HDR10 is the standard and this won't change anytime soon. 99.99% of games use HDR10 for this exact reason.

It's possible for a monitor to have a very fast panel, but slow processing, which means it'd look good to your eyes, but wouldn't feel good to play. TVs often have that problem.

@@Pretender_Gamer it felt very dim and it was especially noticeable with an all white image on screen such as web browsing. It was very noticeable when playing a game where the screen would flash bright for a brief second (think getting flash banged or if you’re a destiny player picking up an orb of light). Don’t get me wrong the monitor is beautiful, both the display and aesthetics were very nice but for $1000 it didn’t check all my boxes for a premium display. I will say that my favorite part was how buttery smooth it felt, it was hard going back to a normal 165 hz ips panel

Which Monitor u buying now? Because i though to buy the Lg but im too scared about burn in and maybe go for LCD again. Sad they dont have more 27“ Mini LED options.

This seems like a pretty annoying thing, still can't disable it? Thinking about picking this one up vs the Asus, you happy with it?

I will say I was worried about burn in when getting an OLED TV but I've left it idle on random XBOX screens that were static for like 30 minutes to an hour at a time frequently and it hasn't had any issues for almost a year now. Idk how these monitors work, but with LG TVs they start basically moving barely noticeable sweeps of tiny lines across the TV to refresh the pixels after a minute or so of a static image is on screen.

I bought a OLED TV in 2019 with already over 2.5k hours usage, mostly gaming ... Still no issues with burn-in

i think they still would have to deal with more burn in and short lifespan. the thickness or lack thereof is not a selling point, you still have a thick box on the back. heatsink sound like a great idea, but it would also increase the power consumption, i do not want hundreds of watts back again.

i had and still own a 370nit ips, ran it between 50% and 20% depending on the time of day. the xenon is bright enough in all cases used it, and it get way brighter in hdr content so that headlight actually shine instead of being just white. i would call it blindingly white when it is called for. probably fun with even more brightness but me it enough light to notice hdr and subtitles at full brightness sure is a lightshow on its own.

same here, burned in some wicked black bars on my lcd tvs back in the day, and now i got a oled for my pc......... but i can also blame samsung, and now samsung oled burn in faster than lg woled. i just need to get into new habits, hiding icons and taskbar on main monitor, when i take break from the pc i make sure i have a black image in the screen or turn it off doing the pixel clearing. and i am buying an oled prepared for it is close to worthless after 4 years.

@@sudd3660 I feel more compelled to buy one with all these marketing videos and reviews I feel like without them I'd have less trouble waiting or sticking with a qled. I prefer rich colours and don't really care about hdr anyway. I know I'm incapable of changing habits too because I'm lazy I hope your monitor lasts. It does present a good excuse to replace them later if you have the money

Dell usually faces downwards which reduces stress on brittle lead free solder on ports...

Windows is handicapped in this area, while they have Cleartype close to no software (including MS ones) use it anyway.

i got the update, think it helped a bit. but max power usage still is at 40 watt so that did not change so Fullscreen brightness is not affected i surmise

Pixel refresh occurs every time you turn the c2 off..

@@DrakonR Actually, you can set the TV to operate Pixel Cleaning when you turn the TV off. I don't think it does it automatically.

@@graysonpeddie yes, it does do it automatically. When you hit that lovely little power button on the remote, the tv screen appears to shut off, but it actually goes into pixel refresh. You'll hear the screen actually turn off a minute or so later with the sound of a click. Just like the C1.

@@DrakonR I did not hear a click at all and I don't have a C1, only a C2. To do a Pixel Refresh, I have to go into the menu and schedule it in OLED Care.

Bulgarian gamer? :) Too bad with your PG27AQDM. I am a Norwegian gamer in Bulgaria, and ordered the PG27AQDM here. Luckily, mine is still working, and hopefully it will not break. If mine breaks, I think I will get an Alienware 34 DWF (it looks better overall - the glossy finish is amazing)

I have the LG one. Still going strong after 4 1/2 months. No burn in after 600 hrs of screen on time

I got the monitor back. They've replaced the mainboard, so that was the problem. Lets hope that they won't be any new breakdowns.

I also have the LG monitor, and was worried about brightness due to all the negative feedback about it. I have found that 80%-90% brightness is more than enough for my normally-lit room, and also use 70% brightness at night when all the lights are off. I am confident in saying that the LG 240hz OLED is the best monitor I’ve ever owned.

Your argument falls apart as soon as you said 'I game in a dark room'. I like sunlight and only close the blinds when the glare is directly impacting my visibility.

Indeed at two minutes of this video, Tim indicates this screen uses DSC for hdmi as well. Means it’s not real hdmi 2.1 as the bandwidth is 24 gbps max. You won’t get rgb color subsampling with a ps5 requiring 32gbps bandwidth at 1440p hdr 120hz. It’s ok though at 60hz.
