Mike, not to take away anything that you have done here but considering the condition of the fuses and relays I would have started with the fuel pump relay and checked all the fuses before getting under the car.

I enjoy what you do but shouldn’t the order of these go: Make sure the engine is not locked. Do you have spark. Then fuel, which is probably varnish if it’s been sitting this long. It’s all gunked up. Bypass the gas tank.

Love the colour combination of this classic. It'll look amazing after you do your stuff on it, just like the BMW E30. These 190e' s often have an over voltage protection relay located behind a thin plastic panel under the windscreen, behind the battery (Euro) and it often has a fuse located on top of the relay, so I'd check that is ok. Also over time the internal contacts just give up so it might be worth investing in a new OVP relay from the dealer.

You are absolutely correct for someone seriously trying to save and restore a car to the road. However in this case the real purpose is to generate views and make money on social media. I have to conclude this, as I recently provided Mike with a respectful comment similar to yours noting that you should never attempt to crank the engine on a car that has been siting and is obviously dry on the top end without taking some pre-oiling precautions. His response was to delete my comment.

I loved those type of Mercedes. My grandpa had one when I was little and I don't know if it was a 3 or 5 series. It had a diesel engine though and I think it was a 1984 or 1985 model. You can still find those in mint condition on eBay motors, but they are expensive. I wouldn't mind having one though just for childhood memories.

This 190E reminds me of the Cosworth 16v 190E I had 20 years ago. What a great car! Typically, take the pump and accumulator down as a unit. Without a check valve, it will be slow to start, hard to start when hot, and it may even vapor lock. Definitely want to install a check valve! Also, need to check the control pressure at the warm up regulator. It is different from the injector pressure. It basically adjusts the resistance on the plunger to adjust the fuel ratio. The control pressure increases as the engine warms up so that you get a rich cold start. Turbocharged cars have a frequency valve that bleeds off the control pressure when the turbo is under boost so as to richen up the mixture. If the pressure is too high, the plunger metering the air will not move enough, to feed gas to the injectors. Try pushing the plunger down with a finger, while turning over the engine.

Very nice and interesting video!! Keep going!! I love the interior it looks pretty!! I had a 230E with the same engine as your 190E, mine was sitting for 20 years in a shed. I want to tell you how I managed to start my car so maybe my story can help you with your car... I also started by changing the fuel pump, fuel filter and the screen filter , then I disconnected and cleaned the fuel delivery and return lines that go form the tank in to the fuel distributor with compressed air and lacquer thinner. After that I injected a mix of gasoline and a little of ATF oil in to the fuel distributor inlet port with a syringe and pressed the metering plate at the same time to release the mixture of gas and ATF fluids to the outlet port. This procedure is like flushing the fuel distributor, but you have to be Very Careful. I have done this procedure in my fuel distributor because the car was sitting for a long time and had a lot of fuel varnish, and I didn't wanted to take apart the distributor, It was my last resource. I Do Not recommend to do this... After doing all that cleaning I connected the fuel lines back, changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and finally poured gas in the tank and it fired right up. I hope this helps . I wish you all the best!! God Bless you!! Keep making amazing content!! Regards!! :) P. S. love your channel
