Being an arthropod enthusiast, I love this series and I think the sound effects add to the unique 'creature-y' charm of it and don't get why many people bash on it. Yes, it is staged, but unlike the Japanese bug fighting 'championships' (which is plain cruelty), nobody forces them to turn a meal out of the other. This is nature taking its course with invertebrates from the same niche doing what they do, kill, maim and devour. Also, a Wolf spider is DEFINITELY not stronger than a Funnel-Web. Nowhere close.

the thing that surprised me about them is how little the spiny leafs weigh, pretty sure it was one of these i was holding in BC, bigger than my hand, and weighed nothing. I love the sound effects in these video too.

DiggerPat Indeed. All it does is serve to sensationalize the whole ordeal. Which is obnoxious and unnecessary for nature documentaries, being that these insects are already alien and terrifying in their own right. It stinks of "edutainment" which is an irritating trend you see these days. Besides of which, if they managed to simply include the natural sounds of the insects while being filmed, I'd imagine that would equally if not more unsettling. The images speak for themselves. Why can't we have the same for the sound?

WOW!!! I watch documentaries all the time, mainly animal docs; and I gotta say, this is awesome! I don't know whose producing/produced this but it is fantastic!!! Hardly anyone, (BBC or Nat Geo Wild) produced much about our insect world. But we need bugs (unfortunately as we slap away mosquitos) because they are extremely important in the food chain. Heck, without them, their wouldn't be a carnivorous food chain!!! So thank you so much. Bugs are interesting. It's so amazing that the Lord took so much time with each insect even....each one has offensive and defensive strategies and mating rituals etc. No way could our amazing world and all that is in it come from a "Uh oh" accident. To believe that - now THAT THEORY - that would take a whole lot of faith...much more than simply accepting that we have an intelligent Creator who thought of every little and every big detail and not need to figure out everything but rather just be in awe of an INCREDIBLE GOD who makes MARVELOUS CREATURES...(personally - I think that He made the animals - God was thinking of us. Perhaps they are partially for our pleasure! Come on...who can look at a platypus and not crack up!!! Is it a seal? A duck? A beaver? All three? It's so funny looking!! And He knew we'd think so too! Oh yeah, and one more thing - He made us to, btw! Heehee. LOL,LOL I don't know about anyone else but I always watch these with awe and again realize what a Glorious God He is and how He's made everything perfect and glorious!!! If all people would stop seeking to destroy our beautiful planet, we and our children and so on down our legacy could enjoy it for a long time to come... Great documentary!!
