Background Info: Scorpion- Has trained in a mostly offensive/aggressive based fighting style, his defenses include the exoskeletal armour and his defensive guard which involves his stinger raised pointed forward and pincers at the ready in front of him to either push away or grab at his opponent so he can sting them. Tarantula- Has trained in a bind and bite fighting style which uses his web slinging skills, his defenses include his threatening posture in which he raises his front appendages and exposes his fangs, should a threat get too close he will attack with surprising speed. Cockroach- He exists, that's all.

After dueling and basically losing for 7 min the tarantula has the scorpion flipped and is using it’s one leg to hold down the stinger while taking his fangs to the scorpion’s abdomen.. impressive. That spider came back from the brink, I was sure the scorpion would wipe the floor.

Honestly, it didn't really look like the tarantula was losing at all, not even for 7 min. The tarantula was fairing and holding its own against the scorpion quite well and was even able to effectively utilize its silk webbing to temporarily immobilize the scorpion and thus neutralize its ability to use the tail stinger (the most powerful weapon in the scorpion's entire arsenal) in such an impressively intelligent manner. Hell, even toward the end of the video, it honestly looked like the tarantula either was about to or had already delivered the killing/death blow/strike to the scorpion when it was pinned down on its back and then afterwards, the tarantula just pretty much "smooth-sailed" his way to living to fight another day. Pretty well-played by the tarantula I must say. 👌🏽

Wrestling seems to be very common for species across the animal kingdom.

It's because these are both grappling species, they're flat out designed to wrestle down and immobilize targets to win because envenoming a target is risky and takes time and they don't have any other real adaptations for fighting targets that large.

@@JesusIsGoodTruth Well, not exactly "wrestling" per say because "wrestling" is technically more of a man-made term and combat technique that humans have devised. Across various species of the Animal Kingdom, it's seems more common for them to resort to just pure grappling and even striking at times (depending on the species and their mood) when up against one another in a battle/scrap/brawl.

@@KaleidosXXI Well, in actuality, it seems like both species also employ striking as well as grappling based off of the fact that spiders will strike with their fangs and scorpions will strike with their tails too. And they both actually happen to have some pretty good adaptations for dealing with large targets such as barbed hair that causes a burning sensation and a lethal amount of venom/toxicity coursing through their natural weaponry as some examples.

6:56 That was pretty impressive. When watching it in regular speed it looks like they're just trashing about, but in slow motion you can see pretty clearly that the spider is deliberately using one of its legs to keep the scorpion's stinger in check at all times, demonstrating not only some intelligence and use of tatics, but also a great ability to multitask even when in mortal danger.

Most predators and animals in general are not hyper aggressive towards other animals of the same caliber. If that was the case, they would eventually kill each other off. So they tend to avoid fighting, and respect territory. We as humans can learn from this.

Anyone else notice the spider literally pin the scorpions tail down on one of the last exchanges. When it turned it to its side it literally stepped on the tail with a leg and kept it pinned down while it lunged. That’s low key insane 👀

That spider shows off the species intelligence quite well. When it knows it is kind of screwed it displays that dance like a fighter going in, and out of strike zones. It's like a Mayweather tactic, and confused the opponent heavily. They cannot determine when you will actually go all in.

This can be seen a lot in other animals too. Predators have a tendency too try to analyze if a situation is worth more than it costs, like you buying milk. Except instead of a few bucks, sometimes their lives are on the line. This means many times near-pear predators(near equal) just entirely evade each other, so long as they don't threaten a food source.

@@gjallarhorn4534 It's also because neither of them are in their own territory and they aren't each other's prey items or rivals. Being a territorial predator doesn't mean they're just aggressive to everything around them, their default mode is just wanting to be left alone and in turn leaving everything else alone themselves until circumstance or survival requires otherwise. If you aren't an intruding hostile/rival or a prey item while they're hungry or you aren't in their territory at all then they don't care about you, and if they're forced into an alien space isolated from their territory they become very meek and defensive because they know they're probably intruding in some other unknown' entity's territory and don't want to be perceived as a target or an aggressor. The fight only happened because of their forced proximity, the roach weaving in and out of their space kept them alert and forced them to move which intruded on each other's space and was in turn perceived as a sign of aggression.
