I made a lore when i started playing this game. I chose the Nyanta and made a backstory of my Nyanta being saved once by a passing Hunter from Pokke, (aka my first game being Freedom Unite), and it inspired her to fight and defend her hometown. When the town was safe and no big monsters appeared for a long time, my Nyanta left in search of the Hunter. Going through towns of old and hearing stories of other hunters achievements. Joining the Wycadamy helped my character travel and fund her adventures. At the end of the Nyantas quest she was reunited with not the Hunter, but a gravestone with the Hunters Narga Sword and Shield, (main weapon i used in Freedom Unite), with a story of how the Hunter drove back the Yama Tsukami but was fatally wounded. Depressed and sad the Nyanta mourned the death of the hunter that saved her before before having to fight the Glavenus. After the fight she would come back to the grave and just chat with it, telling stories and adventures to the deceased hunter. Where she would later meet the daughter of her idol and thats where my hunter comes in. So yea, thats the backstory of my Nyanta and Hunter if anyone cared to read this far.

For me my whole lore thing is that Gen 1 2 and 5 are all blood line. My gen 1 hunter became a simple hunter for Kokoto going off on his own and occasionally with a group of people that eventually became his squad. Sometime later he had a son who would watch him hunt. Until he was tasked with fighting fatalis. I never actually killed Fatalis in gen 1 because around that time 2nd game out. So I had my 1st hunter "die" to fatalis. 2and generation I played as that man's son. Who became a hunter in memory of his father. For a while I had people to play with but I moved and had to solo everything. Which resulted in him becoming a Famous hunter who could take on anything he then teamed up with a Felyne who wanted to get revenge for the destruction of his tribe from a Diablod then the two became an unseperatable pair. Then one day Fatalis returned boistered by his resolve and with his trusted friend they slew the beast. Only to find out it had brothers. Still one by one they fell. But due to guild regulations at the time his conquests had to be kept secret. Eventually his Granddaughter and the Granddaughter of his Felyene compatriot were sent off to the new world coming from a prestigious family they had high Hopes for them. Then from out of the wood work and old Family nemesis has returned.

@@thundergod9696 When I play 4U I have a story that my character's ancestor made Fatalis armor. They became possessed by it. They rode on the back of a Gore Mangala and brought terror to the world. Now a new Gore Mangala wants to corrupt my character and bring them to their Fatalis master.

This is where I spend my time in Gen. I put hundreds of hours into the original title. I would headlock for those in need of the 1% drop rate rath plates that could only be obtained from a single tail carve. I took on the original Fatalis with dual blades, which was unheard of (it was pretty much mandatory to go 4 gunners using only clust lv2). Even got the Eternal Annihilator. That was my game. And this is its village. Thanks for shedding some light on its heritage, Gaijin.

Anyone else sees connection between the Kokoto and Cheeko's leaders? I don't remember al the details, but the hero's sword was also there in Cheeko. Plus, the old lady leading Cheeko says she lose her husband long ago and attempted to search for him with the help of felynes. Is it possible that Kokoto chief's wife didn't actually die, but somehow (and probably because of Lao Shan) was casted away and ended up in a far away hidden island? About the 4/Gen hero's sword, I guess it's simply an easter egg. It's easy to say Generations happens after 4, and 4 also happens after 1, since there's no data about Magalas on 1 but it's an already listed species on Generations.

I usually hang out in kokoto village not because I've played the original mh, but because everyone there treats you like dirt (at least in the beginning). They're like the physical representation of git gud (especially the Hell Hunters) and there's something I love about being surrounded by that lol.

Like the video, ahh Kokoto, the village I started from on MH1. Just to add here's info of another famous person from Kokoto, the Legendary Gunner, a famous gunner who's hometown is Kokoto, his hunting life came to an end when a Monoblos ram it's horn in his leg! On the first MH he sits under the tree to the north. Later he wrote the bowgun articles in the Hunting Life magazine for the Freedom series.

All the villages have something unique and i personally like and have enjoyed all of them. But Kokoto to me is just as symbolic as Kanto is in pokemon. I got my bearings here, hunted my first Rathalos here and began my journey here. With all this being said Kokoto will forever and always be home in my eyes. Also that original OST that played when you were saving the game entitled "An hours rest" in MH1 is to this day the absolute best save game OST i have ever heard. Kokoto always with love

When I walked through kokoto for the first time in years it was unreal. The very first thing I did was to go see if the sword was back in the stone. I never had access to the online in the first multiplayer so the 300+ hours I had were all in kokoto.
@EmbodimentOfFacepalm8 жыл бұрын
I didn't know the reasoning behind Monoblos always being solo! That's super cool. Kokoto really feels like the start of it all with all these reasons behind what I've just accepted all this time... I started my career with Tri, so I'm glad to get a glimpse of the original game. My most memorable hunt was actually in the original Monster Hunter. Scrounging up herbs to desperately fight off the hordes of velociprey with a shitty SnS (I love SnS, that one was just super weak) to kill a Velocidrome while listening to the Fatalis theme was a special kind of horror that I'll never forget

I picked up Monster Hunter (PS2) 3 days before generations was released, and I honestly feel the nostalgia that other players would feel if they were playing it. The soundtrack for the village just gives you that sort of feeling of "This is a sacred place remembered and cherished by many"

It's really cool that every player of the series has a starting point, and for almost everyone, that starting point has a village that they have the most emotional attachment to. I think it's cool that capcom decided to let everyone re-live that feeling by bringing back these villages for Generations, because one of the problems I have with 4 and 4U is that, since you're traveling around to different villages constantly, you never get attached to anyone or anything there. The only village you stay in for a prolonged amount of time is Dundorma, and that's only for half the game. Compare this to 3U or Freedom Unite where you spend the entirety of the offline quests in the same village. Eventually you get attached and it starts to feel like home, and while Generations has the same village switching mechanic that 4 and 4U did, it has you switching between these old villages, where you can also accept quests. Essentially allowing you to choose the village you feel most "at home" in and do the offline quests. That being said, it makes me sad that my "home" isn't in this game. I started with 3U, and Moga Village will always be the village I have the most attachment to. Instead I've had to settle for Pokke, which isn't bad, it's just not the same.
@markmillett65408 жыл бұрын

I started in MHFU with Pokke village and it brought me to tears when I walked around the village once again like I did 8 years ago. The BGM is slightly remixed but the feelings are still there. I am glad to see that you like it as well. :)

Cate Siff Pokke village is easily my second favorite village second only to Moga. The music and the atmosphere are just so comfy, and the fact that I really like snow and cold weather helps too.
@Dave_Chrome6 жыл бұрын
RandomNPC Tri was my first, so Moga will always be home. I also miss Shakalakas...
@silentprotagonist3786 Жыл бұрын
It's mainly due to the fact Generations was more of a throwback to the Portable games, Portable 1st (Freedom), Portable 2nd and it's G version (Freedom 2 and Unite), and Portable 3rd had Kokoto, Pokke and Yukumo, that's why they were brought back. That's why there's no Dundorma or Moga or Port Tanzia.

This village brings back so many memories from MH Freedom for the PSP, all the way back in 2005... When you mentioned lore, I was thinking "great, now I have to go into the comments and point out how he missed the lore about why you can't hunt with 5 or more." Glad to see I was wrong. I didn't start my hunting career in this town, but I still enjoy it solely because of its music theme. It's very nostalgic-sounding and soothing. And I knew everything about Kokoto's lore already because I'm an info sponge and read everything the NPCs have to say... I also spent way too much time on the Monster Hunter Wikia. So yeah, I fail to understand the argument of "newer players can't appreciate the older towns as much". Sorry if I'm an oddball.

Kokoto was where I started out in the original MH. Never forget headlocking Rath.

Wait, could that mean Becky is the hammer user from the opening cinematic for Generations?
@gaijinhunter8 жыл бұрын
no that's a diff girl. In MH the females are often hammer users (this is also a trend in Japan for actual players)

The hours i've spent in kokoto when i was a newbie. I still remember how happy i was when i got to HR2 by doing the 2 diablos urgent quest with the ice sns and only 2 minutes remaining till the end. xD Fun memories...

I kinda hate that i started my MH gaming in MH4U, i missed out on alot, I can't fully appreciate the old towns as much. i hope you can keep doing this for all the towns i would like to know more about them, gotta respect the past you know.

You're not missing much. The older games were fun, but they're very dated. I just hold dear to the fact I still have an original copy of MH1.

Mh4u was a changing point to the series. Before that the controls were frustrating (used to be no lock-on!), it was a more static experience, and there weren't as many people to play with. I'd say be happy you got in right as everything skyrocketed!

There was still a lock on feature in MH3U, but the underwater combat was frustrating, and not having online capability with the 3DS also was a bummer, but yes, MH4U was where the series REALLY started to shine here in the west.

I started on MHF and for a portable monster hunter you would be surprised how much of the staples you are missing. some notable bad experiences. camera control... (search up PSP claw hand) Forest and hills area 9. GS don't charge.... the moment when you miss your only dragonator against a lao shung.
