I like the message at the end. It's suppose to represent that not everything goes to plan in your life but it's ok, more opportunities will always show up and you may be surprised by what you comes to you. It's honestly a great life lesson.

Strangely I liked this movie better than Monsters Inc. I think the "cant achieve your dreams" message is a good one as it is true, sometimes you have to adapt. Great time all round.

@59:59 Tim totally missed the point of that scene and it 100% in line with the plot. He’s still selfish and arrogant and thinks he’s the best. It works with the next scene of him needing to cheat so that they can win because he’s that arrogant and still believes Mike is inadequate. The growth comes after because he realizes he effed up. @1:11:58 and Kev, in the real world people are stubborn and will believe in something that they can realistically attain. This was one of Disney/Pixar’s most realistic messages. Sometimes the people closest to you are the ones that help you realize that there is more than one way to attain the thing that you want. Not everyone gets there on their own.

I feel like "find another way to your goal" would have been a strong message, but it's not the one that I end up taking away. I think the movie essentially says: "Work as hard as you want your entire life to improve at a thing, but it won't matter. You won't be good enough unless you're born with it." I say this because there's not a single monster in MU who is shown to have aptitude because of their effort. Sully is a legacy, the ROR's don't work hard, and the OK's frankly DO NOT become scary. They were handed the last round in the sense that half of the other team kinda f*cked up. Mike has been diligently studying and trying to improve his entire life, and I'm supposed to believe that it never occurred to him to ROAR LOUDER? Take some voice lessons dude! Or find a strength of your own (the entire point of the f*cking field trip). Muddled theming in my opinion.

FIRST!!!! YES!!!!

Absolute disappointment from Pixar. As much as I wanted to, I didn't enjoy it. Without Boo, it felt empty, and the college rivalry plot was way too predictable, especially with it being a prequel. This and Cars 2 are at the bottom of the list. That being said, it was great to hear Goodman and Billy Crystal in their iconic roles, and the animation is stunning as always.
