Since no one replied, he uses a re-amp box to record his direct guitar signal, then plays the direct signal back into the amp so he can tweak the settings while listening to playing. Saving the raw guitar signal so you can re-record it through different amps is a common technique for recording these days.

I love the way the Marshall sounds with the siggi braun, but not so much with the 7 string.
@mustangtech331
@mustangtech331 9 жыл бұрын
It's funny to see all the people complaining that he's tunes too low. Drop A on a 7 string is the same thing as drop D on a 6. Only the low string is dropped 1 step and all the other strings are untouched from standard. That is by no means considered low tuning. Also, he makes sure to play stuff using all the strings, it's not like he's just chugging an open low string and calling that an amp demo.
@jarrettghiz

mustangtech331 it's that low A string that annoys me (and apparently many others).

Jarrett ghiz Because you're letting it bug you. Hes showing the capabilities of the amp from not quite standard (step down), but a wide range of tunings it can sound good at. There are Thrash people, Death metal people, and rock people watching this video, so he has to demonstrate its abilities for all those demographics

the JVM410H SOUNDS FLAWLESS!
@larry4581
@larry4581 4 жыл бұрын
@Juan Fernandez Because you have the 201H and he is using the JVM410 JOE SATRIANI version. The 201 doesn't have the killer crunch channel from the JS and it unfortunately used the OD2 instead of the OD1 from the original 410. Don't feel bad though, even the JVM410 can't get the tones of the JS. However the JS can cop the stock 410s tone with a OD808 or Tubescreamer out front. I do have a near mint JVM410HJS for sale if you are interested. I am no longer in a loud band so the JS is overkill. $2000 plus shipping

Wow...that comment brings back memories. I can remember being 13 and learning older licks like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zepplin and my mom bragging about how she liked it and then by the time I was around 16 and 17 saying something along the same lines as "play something nice like you use to...", after I was throwing out the Testament riffs. Nice trip down memory lane that one.

I own a 210h and it literally the tone we dialed in was almost exact to the tone reflected on our recording. Absolutely no buyers remorse, I Love this amps versatility, if I had any requests it would be for them to make this head smaller (similar to those H&K 40) cause they've got a 50w version. Not a light head to lug around. Also, if u don't get your tubes replaced and biased and then re-biased once they're broken in you'll end up with a noisy & thin sounding tone. Like a guitar, don't cheap out on getting the intonation done etc.....

Listen to the high E string to hear what loudspeaker is being used. These are G12T-75s. Low end not as thick, but doesn't overdo that midrange cata chinge chinge sound. This sounds almost like the moderate overdrive that George Lynch was shooting for or Adrian Smith would use. The regular 4 channel head with vintage 30s blares.

Olivier Block the joe satriani jvm has 4 noisegates and od1 and 2 are the same, and instead of an XLR input in the back of the amp it's a regular guitar cable input, a tone shift and some other differences
@sleepwalker2112
@sleepwalker2112 9 жыл бұрын
The gain is staged differently as well, claiming to be more usable in the higher spectrum. Also it is the line out that is an XLR on the 410h. There's also no reverb on the 410HJS.

If you're looking into buying the JVM410h, I own one and can tell you I'm very satisfied with it. I bought and sold a few amps over the years (Krank Krankenstein, Rivera KR7, Crate Blue Voodoo and Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier to name a few) but I won't sell this one. They were all good amps, and The Dual Rectifier was great and I may get one again some day... Of course in the end it's all about personnal tastes. If you have questions about the ''regular'' JVM I'll be glad to help you!
@sleepwalker2112
@sleepwalker2112 9 жыл бұрын
***** I'm guessing your question is wich one is better so I'll answer that way :) Keep in mind that I've never tried the JS, but from what I hear on that video it doesn't sound significantly better to me. I also like to have a reverb built into the amp, as I like a simple set up (guitar, amp, delay pedal into the effect loop and cab). Since I mostly buy my amps used, the normal 410 was way easier to find and at a better price. I've owned this amp (normal 410h) for a year and a half now and I stopped looking for other amps for the first time in years. If you really can't decide I suggest you try both. If you can live without a noisegate, the normal 410 is a great choice.
@sleepwalker2112
@sleepwalker2112 9 жыл бұрын
I never used a noise gate so there's little I can tell you about that. But I play in a band with channel volume at noon and master at 10 and I don't feel noise is that much of a problem.

I don't like metal either. But this series of videos is great, show a great deal of tha amps' capabilities and overall sound. I could clearly elect the one I liked the most and the worst. I'm still impressed with the orange: the least buttons, the greatest variety of tones! SO, THESE VIDEOS ACCOMPLISHED THEIR OBJECTIVE. I fingerpick a telecaster through a blues jr, no pick, gain on 4. Plectra (picks) are too much gain for me. And I LIKED these series. What is there to hate?

Not sure I can hear much difference between this and a standard JVM. Very slight, I guess. D256 is right, though. The designers did back off the gain a bit on this one. I think that's because around the time of the recording of the 2nd Chickenfoot album, Joe wanted something with a bit less gain than the standard JVMs. Based on this demo, with the right pickups, it's still possible to play death metal on this amp.

you need a speaker to produce sound. the head will not make any sound at all. and it is dangerous to turn a amp on without a speaker. and the amp is very good. i have never tried one out tho. but i have tried out the jvm 210h model. and it is a realy good amp.

+Andreas Jørgensen I own a Satriani head and our other guitar player has the Fireball 100... We both agree the Engl does high gain very, very well... But it has no character. Sure it has balls, but it does only high gain, in a too sterile way. The Satriani head does it all, and I must say the quality of the amp's sound is amazing. From clean over crunch to extreme high gain (I set gain at 10 o'clock and that's more then enough for death metal), it sounds pret-ty amazing! Besides the sound, there's the fact it's a more complete amp. And don't forget it runs on EL34's... In this demo it does sound terrible. People forget demo vids are an indication. We should compare these amps in real life, with our own setups through the same cabinets! And THEN we can judge, right? But in the end it's still personal preferences, so it's up to your own I guess. Anyway, enjoy playing!

The JVM can do modern scooped metal too or not really? I see got the 80s metal tone nailed.
