Montana 1 Rotorway, RotorX Mountain flying!

Күн бұрынWell I'm going to bore you with some Montana High altitude flying! My rid didn't film yesterday so have reproduced some of the route here chasing an Enstrom and a Turbine Rotorway. Takes some getting used to, and I'm turbo charged! I fly like I assume that any approach to a landing will end up in a low rotor rpm so I'll let it settle to the ground. Never happened, but be prepared! Also Noticed that the camera was shaking more than normal. This is due to not having reset the suction mount in many months. Videos to fallow you'll see that it is much more steady.

yes it was. Geno and I were running all over the place. I went up to 7500 feet with wife on board, and Geno, I think, was up to 8500 feet! I actually pulled to a hover at that altitude waiting for Geno to come down from the peaks! And the chase began!

The camera mount was loose, so there appears to be a lot more vibration than reality.

I was wondering how the turbo Rotorway units did here in Montana. Been toying with getting one but wasn’t sure how they would like the altitude. Seems like it might be a good alternative to a 269c. Thanks for sharing.

overall it did very well. Daniel M is there and would love to demonstrate for you as well. I flew with the wife up to 7500 feet MSL during the stay and it really did well. Now, I did have the occasional struggle. These issues mainly were low rotor rpm. I think this stemmed from the turbo lag was significant compared to 700 msl. So the small quick corrections I would make in a hover or taxi were too little too late. I would set down and spool back up and go on my way. By the end of the week I was on top of it and never had issue. Thanks for the note!

RotorX and RotorWay do not exist any more. RotorX used us and our money to produce a failed attempt at a govt contract. Sadly a lot of people got bilked out of a lot of money. Don had probably better leave the country on a one way ticket. HOWEVER. The original rotorway designs, are selling like crazy on the used and barn find opportunities. A couple weeks ago in North Carolina we put two ships into hover that had never flown. Not the latest technologies on board, but it flew! Latest is that we've been able to get all the contents from the Rotorway factory, and we have all the specs an subs to create pretty much everything we need to keep them flying, and even the possibility to start new manufacture in the future. I'm hoping these folks will be here in October at my event. hardy-field.com

@@captianhardy Boy, I sure hope someone responsible starts production again. I'd love to build a 600, but the factory doesn't reply and I found out about the financial problems through a message board and a news site here at YT.
