Come along with me as my mother, my siblings and I fly to KY to my aunts funeral in a conservative Amish community! It was a sad but special time, meeting cousins I had never met!

I’m from Springfield, Missouri and we have so many Amish and Mennonite communities around us. My husband and I visited in Tennessee to meet Michael and Debi Pearl over 9 years ago. When we were there we befriended an Amish couple who traveled from PA to meet the Pearl’s as well. They were born again Christians but asked for prayers for many of their elderly family members back home in PA who were not saved! My husband and I along with many of us assumed because of the simple Amish lifestyle that they were Christians. Like all of us, they are in need of a Savior too! Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of your family with us! Very special!

I indeed did enjoy this video! I admire that when you speak of your relatives, even with having gone through some tough times, you have no bitterness in your voice or heart, only love, compassion, and gentleness. The Father's love coming out of you is apparent, unconditional love! We all pray that the blessed assurance you speak of will be known by all our family members. Thank you for sharing. Your family is a blessing.

My heart pulled for you, your mother and siblings. And then to see your people. What a treasured moment. That feeling of being one to them, connected. Sights, sounds, smells. And even now your heart must ache to connect again. I will pray for them, to truly know the love of Jesus, and His free gift of salvation, that security in the Father's arm. A wonderful glimpse into the "Old world Amish" lifestyle done with great dignity to the members. Oh, do I remember well the funerals as a little girl. As I was watching the video on the way to the burial site, I could smell the wool blanket and feel the itchiness I felt like a little 4-year-old girl. My great grandmother would tell me to keep my face in the blanket, it was always a snowstorm for a winter funeral, and little girls want to SEE so keeping my head and face in that wool blanket was really hard to do. My great grandmother did not permit power in the home, running water, and I remember learning to use the washboard to do laundry, too. Although those years were hard, I am so grateful I had that experience and learned from my wonderful great-grandmother. Thank you, Priscilla, for sharing this video and experience. Happy New Year to you and your whole family.

So beautiful! I was raised in a very legalistic church and when I began to question many of the practices/rules we were following my husband and I chose to step away but to follow the Lord in a different church altogether. Anyone leaving those type of churches go through a similar "shunning" when seeing friends or relatives that still belong to those churches. It was special that knowing what faced your family that you had the love and grace to go to your aunt’s funeral.

Priscilla, this was very heartfelt and I really appreciated that you were giving us, your viewers, a glimpse into the much more conservative Amish community in Kentucky. I was born in Indiana and it has been a very long time since I was in Kentucky. I forgot how desolate parts of it are and it looked harsh now that winter has set in as well. It cannot be an easy existence there. I enjoyed seeing their open buggies as well. You have a very nice family and you do show your willingness to follow Jesus footsteps by your genuine caring and friendly compassion during what must have been a difficult time. Just recently found your Chanel. I am enjoying all the blessings you share with us. What a gift it had to have been to your mother how you all came together to travel together to hold her in such a sacred yet sad time. Blessings to you and your family.

Thank you so much, Priscilla, for the small glimpse of the very conservative Amish life. Growing up near the Amish in Ohio I always took an interest in their way of life. I never personally knew any Amish. I did not know if they preached about assurance of salvation or not. I now feel the urge to pray for those who don't know that assurance. God bless you and your family. You are one of my favorite KZfaq channels.

Very special video. I appreciate y'all being respectful even though you don't live in that certain community anymore. It will speak volumes to them of your love and the love of God for them.

Priscilla, it's Gail, thank you so much for that lesson in life!!! Although there is all races, we were all created by the same loving Father!!! I do think it's sad to be, as you say, shuned!! I know when a relative may get upset with another, they may not speak for awhile but never "throw one another out". It's just sad. I'm glad you and your family did go on because had you not, you would have regretted it the rest of your life!!!!! I feel that you are such a special person and even though our acquaintance is through youtube...i feel blessed!!! Take care and God Bless!!!!

As I watched this video and knowing your background of how your mother came from darkness into light by the revelation of Jesus Christ my heart broke for your Kentucky relatives that have not had that revelation. I too will pray with you that they will have an experience as your mother had that brought your whole family out of lifelong bondage to a works religion because we know in our hearts that we can never do enough good works to merit heaven; that is why we who are born again by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ are such a joyful people and the contrast between your family and your Kentucky relatives is a perfect picture of this.

I have been watching some of your videos and can see the love of Jesus in your lives! But the respect you had for your relatives by wearing a headship veiling was simply beautiful! Sometimes wen we are with our Amish family or plainer relatives we also try to respect them in small ways! I love my Amish relatives,,,,,,but most of all you nailed it wen you said we can all have the assurance of salvation! Let us pray for each other and not faint by the way!

That was beautiful, thank you for showing us this video. I just came home from Lowville NY, my mom lives in this small Amish community town. I also saw this beautiful little girl with her parents. She was so cute looking at us from her buggie.
