Monterey tour operators aren't sure why so many whales are approaching and lingering near their sightseeing boats but they and their passengers are loving the close encounters. Len Ramirez reports. (7-29-21)

"Friendly" - more like whales trying to communicate .... "What the F are you guys doing to the ocean? We live here".

Unusual behavior happens when an animals habitat or ecosystem is threatened, their clean waters are being damaged as toxic waste slowly dissolves on the ocean floor and the water temp slowly rises. Their asking for help and for people to stop.

They're probably saying "hey humans, can you stop destroying our ecosystems".

I've seen quite a few videos of strange whale encounters lately. It makes me wonder if they are trying to tell us something - probably related to the degradation of the ocean, lack of food, loud sounds (sonar), etc?

I use a commercial fishing boat out of Monterey that also operates the Whale watching tours. I have seen more Whales while out fishing than I did Whale watching! We even get Whales swimming along the piers in the bay area.

I'm definitely no expert but I google reference photos of whales a lot. That one looks pretty small/looks like it has looser skin than normal (especially on its back). Could it maybe be hungry?

That's beautiful that they aren't as messed up as some of us out there. Goes to show you that's whales are in need of a place to be comfortable and get a bite to eat too. Not just the homeless roaming the streets Huh. Lol I am happy out there now after getting all the haters away from me. You just leave the area, whales couldn't do that. They were hunted for there money hanging of they're tails. " Some people". Let people try and help them self's. And maybe you'll be saved by one, one day. Makes you think, well change the drug laws to hard time for hard drugs. And it will make them think too. Lol about even doing it if it has a five or ten year hard time tied to it. It will take that long for people to get over doing meth. Be safe out there!
