Montessori practical life activities at home for toddlers 12-18 months | How we Montessori at home
In today’s video, I’m letting my 13-month-old son try out 7 different chores at home for the first time. Watch to see his adorable reactions and find out if he can actually get involved in these tasks.
Toddlers naturally enjoy imitating adults, which makes this period a perfect time to introduce them to practical life activities. Check out the examples of chores that you can do with your own toddler at home!

Just the video I needed to see! My just turned 15 months old has been trying to join in with household chores, he's not walking yet, but it really helps to see how others toddlers learn to do chores. I like the idea you have of using a smaller, child-size drying rack to make it easier.

What a cutie pants! He wiped the table so articulately for a toddler, and he looked so focused with the silverware, like he was on the clock!

It’s so nice to see him grow, he is about 4-5 months older than my girl so I always come to your channel for ideas. Makes me emotional to see him toddling along, my girl is very determined to walk too.

Hahahaha....this is so funny and cute! I thought him collecting clothes was good, then it went awry a little bit. 😂 The mopping was truly impressive. Seeing him hold the handbag was cute! Montessori upbringing is really interesting!

Great 🙂 I love how relaxed you are about it I have a 10 month old so it's probably a bit too early for her! You've given us some good ideas when the time is right.

My son is a similar age and I get him to help take washing out of the washing machine (it works especially well if it’s small items like his clothes or bibs/facewashers) and also to hand me pegs or items when I put things on the washing line. He also hands me clean socks and underwear from the basket when I’m folding laundry and putting socks in pairs. I love your suggestion of getting a child to wipe their own face and the table or highchair tray, and he’s already started trying to help me wipe up messes on the floor so maybe I should try the mop idea too. Great video, and your son looks so sweet and focused.

This is indeed very heartwarming and very wonderful and very beautiful and very adorable and this brings back such great memories of when I use to be a 90s kid and an early 2000s kid and I am a new subscriber as well:).

From my experience with my niece (15months old) and from your sharings, I have come to realize that toys are not involved much while I am baby sitting her. She loves lending me a helping hand while I am doing the chores and she’s around. Thank u for your insights btw.

He is way too cute🤗 my daughter Amelia loves helping mommy. She's 2 and has been sweeping and wiping for months. Now she helps dry dishes (mostly the plastic items) and takes the laundry out of the basket so I can organize into categories.

Great job, mama 😊 kids look happy and healthy. How is Elijah's eating going with BLW? Are you teaching him a lot of baby signs still, and is he signing back to you?
@hazieandmotherhood
@hazieandmotherhood 17 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes, we're still going with BLW, but it's more like a half-and-half at the moment. In terms of baby sign language, we are mainly using 2 to 3 signs (milk, more and finish), and it's been a while since he started signing back to me, especially the 'More' sign. Lol.

Thanks a lott Hazie for your videos! I can't say enough how I appreciate them. I watch them again and again once in a while and use them as a good reference for others. I am a first time mom with a daughter just a couple of months younger than Elijah (my apologies if I misspell his name. I think I saw it in some video of yours but couldn't find it). We only have a small apartment but I try to make some space for her to explore and develop thanks to your ideas and tips. I got some questions for you as well: 1. How do you child proof electric sockers and cord? Our work station is in the living room and I haven't let her crawl freely yet because of it and the fireplace. 2. Is the sand that you let them play a special one or just normal sand? I am afraid that they can go to their eye or they can eat it. Thanks!
@hazieandmotherhood
@hazieandmotherhood 16 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad the videos are helpful for you. 1. I used Mickey Ha Ha outlet covers from Amazon. I also try to hide them behind furniture so it's not tempting for him to touch. 2. The sand I use is play sand, which is cleaner and safer for kids. I understand your concern - even with supervision, my son has eaten it a few times. But he seems to have realised it doesn’t taste very nice, so he eats it less now... lol.
