Montessori Home for baby | Montessori Baby Room TOUR; Floor bed for Nursery | setting up Montessori bedroom and play area for baby at home
In today's video, I take you guys into our home and give you a tour of 4 month old Elijah's bedroom and his play area. I have followed Montessori principles that emphasize the use of calm, muted colors and items that reflect "natural beauty", while also keeping the space simple and minimalistic.
We decided to skip the cot and transition our 4 month old to FLOOR BED right from the beginning.
Lovevery has launched in Australia and they sent us the Play Gym to try out. @lovevery.australia

Thanks for sharing this. Love the intentional buying and placing of all items. Absolutely beautiful. It’s also much more economical when we only buy what we absolutely need or have thought deeply about. Just wanted to add for new mums not to feel pressure to buy things in general - for new mums trying to practice Montessori, it’s not important to copy or buy everything in this video exactly :) but incorporate the concepts and see what works for your home and budget too. Eg. if you can’t afford this play gym (although it is very cool!) you can use other options to achieve the same sensory experiences thru propping up/taping cards against a wall, using different sensory items/cloth textures etc. you already have around your house for free… Yes, it might not be as perfectly beautiful as a gym with all everything well thought out for you, but will still be a very functional, educational space for your baby since they may just use the space for just a few months. :)) Eg. I have three kids- and have used the same simple play gym (not too overstimulating) I got second hand for $5 and prop cards on a nearby wall and have a small sensory blanket baby can touch and see (also second hand but new). So my whole infant play gym area used by three kids was about $6. My point: it’s perfectly ok to create with what you already have if you are on a lower budget and can’t afford Lovevery items. But thanks Hazie for sharing this. If I was just starting out from scratch without any items at all, this play gym might be a worthwhile investment. :)

I wish I knew that I could use floor bed for a baby 3 years ago.. I never liked our cot and your floor bed looks really comfy. I would've loved to try out the play gym for my child, again, if I knew about this 3 years ago lol looks really great.

Im here because I had been looking for ideas for my granddaughters DIY kitchen and I was recommended you kitchen video. I watched it just before coming to this vid. I was sad that the comments were off. I know people can be rude and hurtful. I loved the kitchen you made for her and the functionality of it was wonderful. Thank you. I will be sending my Daughter your link for sure!

Hi Hazie, thank you for sharing, I love your videos. I was wondering if you could make an update video on the Montessori bed for Elijah? I'm currently pregnant and I'm really liking the idea of using a Montessori bed instead of the cot, but I guess I'm still a little concerned about the risks of baby falling. I'd love to know more about your experience if you could as I know that Alina was a bit older when she transitioned to the bed. Love your videos, so good and informative. Thank you 🙏

I am intrigued by the floor bed method and would love to try it when my baby is born. Once the baby is sleeping through the night and is too big for the bassinet, how can they safely sleep on the floor bed without risk of suffocating? Isn't it recommended to use a baby mattress until at least 18 months to 2 years?

I wish someone could read my comment and give me their thoughts. My daughter is turning 1 year and i’m in the process of moving her to her room and planning to have the same bed for her. However, my only concern if she starts to walk how i could leave her in this bed knowing that she might go outside or do something 🥲🥲🥲 uhh im so confused

Hey, I totally get your concern. I had the same issue when my daughter figured out how to open her door early on. We ended up putting a safety gate outside her door, which gave me peace of mind that she wouldn’t wander into the living room at night. We took it down when she turned three, as I felt she was old enough not to get into anything dangerous (though she’s pretty cautious by nature, so trust your gut since you know your son best). We’re using the same safety gate for my son’s room, and it’s working great for him too. Hope this helps ease your worries!

I mean, eventually you have to put your kid down so you can use the toilet, bathe, or feed yourself so in that time, they can deal with their feelings. I literally babywear (hold my children most of the time that they want to be held for their first two years of life) and I don't really do anything Montessori and even my 3 kids (two are teens now and one is still an infant) have to deal with their own feelings sometimes. That's just life.
