This is the best way to do it, I’ve been streaming funerals like this since the pandemic with the OG Yolobox. It was especially useful for grave side services.

As for audio, I'd just tape a wireless rode/DJI mic near the podium mic with gaffer tape, which is better than just the shotgun mic 50ft away from the speaker. And a wireless hotspot in case the wifi is not very good. I've sweated bullets when I see wifi upload speed maxing out at 3mbps at some of the venues.

Great idea .. but in this situation that wouldn't have worked. This funeral was "not normal" .. The podium was only one location where speaking happened .. there are 2 other places in the front of the room. Also wireless hotspot wouldn't have worked because Verizon and AT&T cellular service was none existent. They even tried satellite internet in their location and still nothing.

Awesome stuff! In my live-streaming funerals, I still hsve my laptop connected to an hdmi usb connection (think Cam Link), and everything but the camera powered by a Jackery unit. I typically see if there is Ethernet that I can tap into for internet, with my MiFi hotspot on standby. I’m curious as to what you used…

Thanks. In my mind when I record these videos, I have so many details I want to share, but when I hit record, I forget to mention some things. On Friday, I'm uploading the video about the internet situation, or I should say lack of internet. I don't have a hotspot, but I did purchase one the day before this funeral, only for it not to work. Defective unit - When if it did the unit did work, it wouldn't have help in this situation as the carrier had no coverage at the location. I forgot to mention that i did have my personal BlueYeti backup power unit and a power strip, but i was able to use the outlet right behind me. I didn't need my power for this stream, but always a nice thing to keep on hand just in case. Hopefully Friday's video is explained ok and i share how the live-stream didn't go well at all ...

Unless I missed it, you didn’t mention how you connected to the internet. Did you hotspot your phone or did the funeral home have sufficient WiFi?

Such a great idea. An extended family member's funeral was streamed with webcam in a 200 person room. You could see absolutely nothing and the audio was even worse. 😨

Yep. The funeral home that hired me said they literally just set up a laptop and pointed it to the front of the room 🥹
