Heart breaking that Nigel has died😥. Friday night, on the couch with my dog watching and enjoying Gardeners World, which I do every Friday night, when at the end Monty told the sad news. You could see how hard it was for him to tell. The love for Nigel was always noticeable in the programme, Monty has such a natural way with his dogs, that's what brings out the best in them. I too will miss Nigel in the following episodes. I too thought he was special. It made me cry when Monty told. I wish Monty all the best and strength to get through these hard times. I will really miss that dog

I'm very sad indeed to read about Nigel's passing in the Times this morning. Having owned a golden retriever, they really are mans best friend. A beautiful noble dog. Gardeners' World won't be the same without him. I'm truly sorry for your loss Monty. RIP Nigel x

Monty is a fantastic person and I love how Nigel went about with him in the garden he was the star of the show I loved how Nigel was snuggling in to Monty when he was talking Nigel you will be missed RIP beautiful boy

I cried when i heard, brought back the memories of losing a pet

Never watched the programme but just heard him on the radio talking about the effect of having a dog on your mental health. The need to get up and get out no matter how bad you're feeling. And the unconditional love of a dog. My old Golden passed on nearly 4 years ago at the age of 13. RIP Nigel xx

Sorry for your loss, Monty Don. Nigel was an old soul, Gardeners' world is never the same without Nigel. Rest in peace. When I saw yesterday's episode I was confused then you Monty told me that Nigel died and that was sad.

Nigel had real star quality; I miss seeing him, he was a joy.

I don’t even like gardening. I watch because of Monty Dons relaxed and engaging presentation and his relationship with Nigel and Nellie. Many thanks for such a great programme, a real joy to watch.

WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS ENGAGING SENSITIVE FASCINATING MAN JUST MONTHS AGO .I live in France and no time for tv or any type of social varied occupations ; Since acquired MAC a whole new World is out there .Monty Don is as close to perfection as who one would want to share an existence with. My love for dogs is ,with nature ,common ground. i suspect he is happier with . Nigel and all his other lifelong friends than with humans their love is unconditional.

My main reason for watching gardening world is to see the dogs. Who else does ?

Such a truly gorgeous, beautiful dog. So very sad.

This intro to Nigel is a delight. Bringing another dimension into what also can be another subject dogs and the gardens they occupy.. So many hounds only have the pleasure of borrowing a garden when they are walked...🐕

So worth the wait to read about adorable Nigel & friends, I did not want the book to end as I enjoyed it so much! However, I always look forward to Sunday mornings when I can catch up with precious Nigel on Gardener's World - thanks Monty!
