Please watch the whole film at some point, it’s hysterical. King Arthur riding an imaginary horse with Patsy behind banging the coconut shells together is too good to miss and as for the French soldier, you have to see that. Fetchez la Vache 🐮!!

I first saw this with my friends back in high school. "Tis but a scratch" and "It's just a flesh wound" were our go-to phrases whenever someone got hurt. Such a funny movie, glad you get their humor.

7th grade history teacher had us watch this in class while we studied medieval times. Later in that year, we actually WENT to a show called medieval times. Among the best history teachers ever.

I was in high school when Holy Grail was released in the US. Back then you could pay once to enter the theater and sit through as many showings as you liked. It became a fad to watch Holy Grail as many times as you could. The reason this started was American audiences would laugh loudly at the jokes, before the punchlines and you missed hearing the punchlines of the British humor. Watching numerous times was originally an effort to hear the ends of the jokes. Old episodes of the TV program "Monty Python's Flying Circus" were shown on PBS before Holy Grail was released in the US, to get Americans used to the British humor.

This is a film made by the same people who did the British comedy TV series Monty Python's Flying Circus that started out in 1969. All of the Monty Python shows and movies are top notch.

a story i heard about the making of xmen...rebecca romaine's stunt double was injured and bleeding profusely after some stunt, while getting patched up she famously reassures the crew shes fine by saying 'tis but a flesh wound'. lol

Monty Python's Flying Circus was a TV Comedy sketch show in the 1970's. The "Tis but a scratch" is a clip from the 2nd Film Monty Python and The Holy Grail released in 1975. They made 5 films. If you do a search they often come up in the order they were made. If you love wacky irreverent comedy you will love all of them. Enjoy.

This is part of a segment from the Monty Python (a comedy skit group) movie “Monty Python and the Search (quest?) for the holy grail”. Moments before where this clip started, they come upon the Black Knight in a death fight with someone else and he wins. That’s why Arthur says “you have proven yourself worthy”.

Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail…the funniest movie ever! There are many scenes as funny as that one. It helps if you know a bit of British history and mythology, as they make fun of a lot of it. The french invasion, mystical bridge keepers, monsters in caves, quests, the knights of the round table, etc, etc. The same group did a couple of other movies and a TV comedy skit series. Genius!

This scene is from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The clip you watched starts halfway through the scene, so you missed the part where the black knight's fighting skills impress King Arthur (which is why he says "you have proved yourself worthy").

Monty Python’s Flying Circus was a long-running television show which specialized in nonsensical sketch humor, but it produced comedy treasures like “How Not To Be Seen,” “Ministry of Silly Walks,” “The Spanish Inquisition” and the immortal “Dead Parrot Sketch.” Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of their movies, chronicling the tale of King Arthur of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table in their quest to find the Holy Grail. “Just a flesh wound” is considered the most iconic line in the whole Black Knight scene. It’s also notable that the scene starts in proper Arthurian dialogue and progressively devolves into street talk.

Your reaction and laughter is pretty much like a bunch of friends watching this movie back in '75 or so. I watched Monty Pythons Flying Circus on PBS so, I was familiar with the group's humor. This and Blaziing Saddles were the funniest and most irreverent movies of their time. Great to hear the same laughter I heard 50 years ago.

reminds me of a fight i watched at a party, i knew one of them, i forget how it started but this guy had it in for the guy i knew, who didn't want to fight, but was forced into it, didn't take long but the guy i knew made quick work of him, knocking him around pretty good, he was on the ground and the fellow i knew just walked away and they guy started insulting him, got up and called him a chicken, pissed by now he went back and knocked him around some more... the fellow i knew walked away again, laying there the other guy starts in again... everyone now started yelling at him to shut up, he finally did and left.

Monty Python was a comedy troupe. They had a television show -- Monty Python's Flying Circus -- and also make a few movies, of which The Holy Grail, where this clip comes from, was one. Their movies are outstanding, and you can find dozens of clips from their TV show on KZfaq, too. The Spanish Inquisition and The Fish Slapping Dance are two of them. They're all very, very silly.

You need to watch the whole move. The little details are the best. You notice the porter clacking the coconut shells together to make it sound like a house and he is holding his hands up and prancing like he is riding a horse. It gets worse. They have peasants that hit the water with sticks to sound like they are riding horses through the water. The whole movie is like this. One of the best movies ever.

It was both a TV series and a bunch of films. You may use certain saying that you do not know actually come from Python. Have you ever heard someone reply, once they have been surprised, "no one expects the Spanish inquisition". Or "Always look on the bright side of life". A song from the film 'Life of Brian'. Python sketches, that have become part of the common vernacular.
