Point No Point (Hansville, WA) is one of Puget Sound's most productive spot for salmon fishing. Salmon feeds on bait fish from the rips and swirls at the point. This is a popular area for mooching and jigging.
Starting from 1:39 of the video, the fish finder was showing fish at the middle of the water column (~40-50ft @ 80 FOW) as I was reeling up. As I reeled up to 55 ft and checking the line counter, I decided to change the bait's direction of travel by pedaling the Hobie Revolution 13 forward. Within a second, I felt a gentle tug on the line. The rod loaded, then I set the hook. When drift mooching, I would normally reel in quickly at this point before setting the hook. I did not feel the need to reel quickly in since the forward motion of the kayak accomplishes similar motion.
