Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters Ive written,
Never meaning to send.
Beauty Id always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I cant say anymore.
cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand,
Just what Im going thru
They can understand.
Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be
You will be in the end,
And I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.
Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters Ive written,
Never meaning to send.
Beauty Id always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I cant say anymore.
cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.
cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

I graduated in 1978. People that weren't old to comprehend the late 50s and the 60's and the 70's music have no idea what they missed, not only the music but the totally cool times and morals and lifestyle we had back then. It will never be that great again looks like, Huh?

Yep never again we were lucky enough to be in those times . It makes me cringe the things going on today and the music is awful , doesn't do a thing for me .rap is mostly about money , booty, crimes and it has no depth , not much of rock n roll today has any depth , pop whatever you call it , no depth . Country music is faster with some a rock solos , drum beats it's not as good as old days like Johny Cash , Conway Twitty, George Jones etc , even the woman like Kay T Oslin, Tanya Tucker etc . I'm not a fan of none of it. I did like Toby Keith , but none of it compares to our times .

I agreee. I grew up in the 80s - 90s. Although I think there was a lot of cool experimentation and creative innovation during those years, the 60s and 70s were and still are the best years for rock and roll! They didn’t just invent styles or genres, they created brand new forms and even instruments! For example, before Jimi Hendrix, guitar distortion didn’t even exist!

Some of the best music came out in 60’s to 70’s! Our girls asked if we could go and buy the cassette tape, I told them I had the original on a record, and 8-track. We had a stereo system, so I unboxed the records and tapes! They had found the best music in the world! There were also some of his favorite music left for me! When I was pregnant, I played a lot of music on head phones on my belly! They had to love it’. Our son came along and I played “old country” to him - not knowing the gender. A comment from an old man: The late 1960’s through the 1970’s were witness to some of the greatest music ever written and performed. But, there have been some really wonderful songs and performances since then, too. Music isn’t supposed to be about competition; it’s a living, breathing, hug to the mind and the heart. Love what you love and keep listening.

I was there at those times, from late '67-about '80, when the powers that be at that time, were brought up in the Music Business as Songwriters ( Ahmet Ertegun of Atlantic Records, Herb Alpert, an artist who also owned A & M Records, and Berry Gordy of Motown, who was also a songwriter, among many others ), so when they signed acts, they KNEW what they were doing. Today, it's corporations that control the business. And very little understanding of what might make a great band or artist or song. Yes, there are a few writers and players today that could've competed back in the day, but now they are few and far between, instead of the norm.

Are you kidding me? How in hell are they supposed to know what music even is? Anyone under forty or even fifty has never heard anything but crap. And the even younger crowd has only heard worse then crap. It's the media and the record companies fault, dumbing down the population with Fake News and Fake Music. The only cure is to educate your own kids & expose them to the classics.

The other big influence on the decline, is the dominance of US commercial interests and the formula used to select music for production. All the good music was created without this formula approach. Close your eyes and listen to the beat, you will hear the variation. Modern music all has the same beat.

Ashamed that they were more famous & appreciated in the USA than they ever were at home. This is all class as all Moodies stuff is, unfortunately “modern” pop is a very distant poor alternative,I feel a bit sorry for the youth of today compared to the brilliant options we had in the late 60’s through 70’s, Led Zeppelin,Procal Harem,Black sabbath, Joe Cocker et al I don’t think that quality is ever coming back.

My older brother has every record ever recorded by the Moody Blues, the Beatles, the Grass Roots, Creedance Clearwater Rivival, the Monkeys and countless others from the 50's, 60's and 70's and they're all in mint condition. Several years ago someone offered him over $100,000 for them, HE KEPT THEM. To him they're priceless, I have to admit that I wouldn't mind having a few, but I'd want the system to play them on to, it's a beautiful antique system.

When you are listening to music from the 60's & 70's and this song begins you HAVE to pause, sit up, stop what you're doing and just LISTEN! It just transports you to a special place. I was just coming back to the World, just returning from 18 months in the "Nam". Still not sure that someone wouldn't try and kill me! How had I managed to survive? Why did I live and thousands of others came home in body bags? Upon disembarking from the jet plane everyone dropped to the ground and kissed the tarmac. Home at last, we began to walk towards the transient barracks when I heard the sounds of "Nights in White Satin". I had never heard such a beautiful song and melody. Suddenly I knew that nothing else that would ever happen in my life would illustrate the love that I have for this great county of ours. It was so good to be home GOD Bless America!
