Another rare gem from Grilo Do Demo's blog, previously uncirculated in KZfaq. Based on how the end of Kylän Päässä is sung, I can 100% confirm that this particular gig is again with Janne Perttilä instead of Henri Sorvali. The recording cuts in during Tyven and Pakanajuhla also has about 30 seconds missing from the beginning due to a tape flip. Otherwise the recording is complete and in excellent quality, as it’s a soundboard recording.
Ville doesn’t sound too great, attempting to pull off the Verisäkeet tone in a few songs, failing miserably as it resembles more like someone in agony.
This gig has the worst ever live performances of Sankarihauta, Kivenkantaja and Unohduksen Lapsi - the former having a guitar fuckup in the very beginning and Ville’s belting parts are very weak. Kivenkantaja is no better with having occasional squeals and voice cracks (22:01 is the most tragicomical part). Unohduksen Lapsi is also miserably ruined in spots.
Kylän Päässä is surprisingly decent from Ville, yet at 35:02 Janne sounds like he’s choking on something while trying to learn Finnish, making the end an extremely unpleasant listening experience. No hate towards the latter though.
However, this gig has the best performance of Karhunkynsi. As 2006-2007 were the years where Ville liked to use his Verisäkeet tone, the vocals are pretty close to the studio version.
I haven't paid too much attention to this bootleg, but a few details have caught my ear. At the very beginning of Sankarihauta, one of the guitarists (either Mitja or Janne) messes up a couple notes, but recovers quickly. During the bridge of Kivenkantaja, Ville sings the phrase "hiekalle laskee kiveenhakatun kohtalon" just like on the studio recording, unlike on later live renditions, where the word "kiveenhakatun" is quickly barked out rather than sung loosely.
This bootleg has a very rare performance of Karhunkynsi. If there were any gigs before 2020 with this song in the setlist, they surely don’t have any circulating recordings.
