In this video we take a look at the new Mora Eldris and I give my first impressions. Made from 12C27 stainless steel, the Eldris is a compact blade that is the perfect size to keep in a pocket or wear as a neck knife. Unlike a lot of small knives that I have used over the years, it is very comfortable in the hand, and seems to handle most small bushcraft tasks and camp chores with ease.

I didn't think I would but I have found that I love my Eldris. The 12C27 steel is such a fantastic stainless, strong and easy to sharpen and the handle is "well usable" unlike most other knives of this size. Nah, great knife I reckon.

Hi Get Smart, I agree. I was dubious about getting a stainless knife as the filleting knives at work that I use are a pain to sharpen. But the 12c27 stainless is a great stainless to use and work with. I have a couple of stainless steel blades now and I made sure that they were the same type. Many thanks for watching.... have a great weekend, all the best, Mark 👍😀.

Say Heah, Yeah, About 3 weekends ago, I teamed my Fox Bushcraft Parang Jungle Knife with my vintage Clipper MG, I liked the match and how they complimented eachother. I have a Mora 2000, but I made a lite trio with my Mora Hatchet and Bacho Laplander. But that gave me a idea, I decided to get the Kansbol and Eldris in Green,I really like that dual grind and the 12c27 stainless. This way I can still use it with the intent I got the Fox Bushcraft Parang, and that's in wet and snowy weather. Oh, yeah, I know, I can also use it anytime.,,.

Hi Paulie....... Many thanks for watching. Yeah I like the dual grind too. I was thinking of getting a Kansbol too, to try out. I love the style and blade profile, but I'm trying to save a bit of money to purchase one of Ben's knives from him at the show. I'm very impressed with the Eldris so far (only used it about a dozen times), but I found the price is quite high here in the UK considering you can get the Kansbol for a similar price. But like I mentioned it is worth the price for the practicality. I'm not usually a stainless steel fan, but fingers crossed it will serve me well at work and hopefully it will take an edge OK. Thanks again Paulie...... all the best, Mark ;)

Hi Marcin, I hope you are keeping well. Many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The sheath retention held up quite well for the time that I had the knife. It fell out of my pack last year whilst out hiking. I was considering buying a new one, but with the lockdown I haven't really been able to get out. Have a great weekend, all the best, Mark :)

Hi Mark, another great video mate but come on, 30 quid for that. Ok it's a Mora so bound to be a decent little tool but is it twice the knife of the companion? My main concern with it would be the sheath. My oldest Mora no longer stays in the sheath if I invert it although the blade is as good as new. I guess it's just horses for courses mate but it's not for me. Thanks for sharing man. Be safe and be lucky, Wol.

Hi Wol, hope you are keeping well brother. Your quite right about the cost for its size, but I was in the market for a small knife that I can use for work. I needed something small, but strong enough, that is also comfortable. I think it is worth the money for how much use it will get. But like I mentioned, it is expensive for Mora and for the amount of knife you are getting. No need to worry about the knife coming out of the sheath. Mora have got that covered. They do another version with a leather retaining strap, ferro rod and lanyard. But they are selling them for about £50.00. I thought that was a bit too steep. Apart from that I will most probably just keep it my pocket the majority of the time instead of my Opinel. Thanks again Wol, take care mate.

Hi Jan.... Many thanks for watching and for the comment. The vest (body warmer) is just a cheap one that I purchased from Amazon. It's called an 'Urban Result', you can get them for around £25.00 if I remember correctly. Thanks again Jan.... all the best, Mark.

Hello Mark. How has the edge held up, I'm looking at a blade from adventure sworn and it is stainless steel. I'm drawn to this steel because it is low maintenance and if very sharp it will hold an edge for a long time, love the camera work. Keep up the good work. - Josh

Hi Josh.... I hope you are keeping well. The edge is still holding up OK. I have only used the knife about a dozen times and it is still fine. Yeah I was drawn to the low maintenance side too. Especially when I'm working in and around lakes and rivers a lot. Thanks for the kind words..... all the best, Mark.

Hi Dave, for my sins I'm a fly fishing guide/instructor and also manage a trout fishery over in Wales, hence the late reply (I didn't get back home until late last night). The sheath is still holding up OK, but I have lost the knife twice in the water. I have been using the knife mainly for cutting ropes, bits of netting and cleaning the odd fish and the likes. But if the knife starts to slacken up in the sheath I will just add a few ranger bands around it to see if that works. If not it is small enough to keep in my wader pocket or in my jacket- ( that's if I haven't lost the knife beforehand lol). All in all, it has been quite handy. Plus it is stronger than the small folding knives that I often use. Have a great day mate, all the best Mark.

hi mark that's not a shabby job. I'd love to be able to do something like that unfortunately digging holes for the last ten years as been my only job until recently when I started doing handyman jobs. I'm not overly busy and moneys not what it was but I've more time to myself and no stress which was my main goal. all the best bud. ps I'm rather partial to the odd trout 😎

Nothing wrong with the handyman game Dave, I have to spend countless hours myself maintaining the fishery and I enjoy that side of it. Doing a bit of painting, grass cutting, pest control and the likes. It beats sweating away in a factory anyday..... (i've been there!!!). I have always been a beliver that I would rather have a stress free life over a bank full of money anyday. I will post a trout up to you lol...... have a great day mate, all the best Mark.
