This is one of those rare products where the commercial makes big claims and philosophies about its use but I actually completely agree as soon as I started using it. This knife really is a no brainer to own. It is a very very versatile and useful design, comfortable to use, and will stand up to the elements very well. Combine all that with the pocketable size, light weight, and affordable price and you've got another winning work horse knife that I will confidently be putting in my pocket every time I head outdoors.

Couldn't agree more, and as Skullman says in the end shouldn't be a question if you should bring it or not. Does 90% of whats needed of a knife for different everyday tasks. Lower weight and volume than the "normal sized" knifes. Around the neck in the Basecamp, it's always ready for numerous tasks.

I have an Eldris and absolutely love it. I have 3 Mora's I could go anywhere with. They are all incredible. However, if I had one minor thing to change about the Eldris, it would be this. The spine is super sharp all the way from top to bottom. I understand this is great for striking a ferro Rod, and have used it for that many times. However when doing small chores and carving, it has a tendency to eat up your thumb if you are not wearing gloves. If there is ever a next generation model of the Eldris, I think it would be great to have maybe only the top half portion of the spine sharpened for fire starting, and the back half rounded to rest your thumb for carving. Just my two cents though. Love my Mora's.

Maybe worth a shot since you have 3 of them. Just use a metal file to round the thumb portion?

@@MoraknivOfficial Thank you and thank you for your awesome products for the world/ You surprised me with your Mora Companion knife. Very affordable and amazingly good. Now I have a lot of basics for the same reason but with a more suitable/better finger guard for me personally. They are affordable, reliable, look awesome, feel awesome, retain sharpness really well, easily replaceable yet I tread each one of them as a very expensive knife because I love them so much. At the same time they give me easiness of mind that if something happens I can easily buy a new one and it will be just as same amazing. I have bought Eldris a few days ago and I love it soooooooo much as well. Got one for my brother as well. Can't wait to present it to him. I also bought 10 Mora Basics for gifts for people in my everyday life circle. Being able to gift something so awesome to people that do not expect it at all is magical. So they'll remember Morakniv for their life for sure as well/ :)

In the video, that’s a much wider tang than I expected, and not such radical U-notches to prevent a shifting tang. I hope this is the way you design your Basic 511 and 546 tangs. In a handle cut away video by Cedric & Ada, the 511 tang back then looked much narrower, and with bigger notches that weakened the tang.
@MoraknivOfficial
@MoraknivOfficial Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thoughts! The tangs on the 511 and 546 are slightly narrower at the back than Eldris, where the tang is wide until their end. Having said that, we can add that the 511 and 546 are both sturdy knives anyway. Greetings from the factory in Mora, Sweden!
@mdubb4855
@mdubb4855 Жыл бұрын
@@MoraknivOfficial The 511 and 546 also have nice 2.0mm blades which we can use as kitchen paring knives. My wife is very hard on our kitchen knives, throwing them in the drain basket (hand basin, not machine) where they are at risk of chipping against metal forks and spoons, dropping them tip down into a ceramic vase for storage which can turn a tip if not simply dull it; it's amazing they last as long as they do, but they are cheaper to replace than a similarly sized (but even thinner and slicier) Opinel.

It's a small compact knife, but given the price it's commanding amongst the suppliers it's over priced. I'm not going to say which knife of yours it's under priced against it because as we all know, you'll just shove the price of that one up to silly money. Let's face it, these knives are no longer hand made, but production line, mass produced. Over thirty pounds for a neck knife is crazy!
@AG_HP7
@AG_HP7 4 жыл бұрын
TheVocalMale Bro, that thing doesn’t weight 30lb I would say it weight a couple ounces and yes, they are not hand made anymore, this is not advertising that, is a good knife in the way that is well designed, and is not terribly overpriced, I would say for a very decent knife is ok. Want cheap and handmade, make it yourself, or find a used one.
