MORE ALCO's.... 4705 & 4501 lead train 200 east.

They say people should not text while driving, nothing about a full size video camera while driving though!! I was young then..... I am not a big fan of this footage but when you have ALCO's leading EMD's, I gotta share it! Enjoy 6 minutes of ALCO's at least....

The Dofasco trucks are what made these appear as the Canadian beasts they truly were. They out pulled anything else in that era. They sounded like a 40mph thunder storm and tossed crews around inside the cabs like nothing else. I was given a ride aboard #4707 leading #4539 and #4716 reversed pulling auto racks in 1985 at age 14 from Scarborough to Smith Falls Ontario. Best day of my young life!

@mygirl22ward all locomotives operating in N/A have a real bell - some are mounted up on the front like 4705 but most are now located below the frame on the side of the engine. A few units come with electronic bells which in theory have fewer problems in cold weather than the air piston type that is on 4705.

There is an actual bell mounted on the front of the engine - most don't any more...just a claxton type thing ringing. It is between the two windshield panels.

Why does buddy with the dark hair and beard look as if his face is gray, and wash 4705. It's filthy!
