This has been the second single best lesson I have learned for ALL of art journaling, the first being to not hold yourself back because you are afraid of making a mistake, because art journaling is about the beauty in the mismatched imperfections of life. I am sitting on entire boxes of ephemera that I feel my art skills aren't worthy of using, or that I'm afraid I won't do them justice so I don't even try. Meanwhile, I continue to buy supplies and paper for them to just.... never be used 😬 so thank you. I need the second half of this lesson TO JUST DO IT.

I was one of the ones who freaked out on the first video, but LOVED what you did and this time was EVEN BETTER!!! I wish you would do a whole series on using up your beautiful paper because it’s captivating to watch you and how brilliant you are at it. I have so so many years also of beautiful paper that I really want to use I just get scared I’m gonna ruin it. This video is so good - without any of the usual banter and small talk you get on KZfaq. Just straight to the point - which is what we crafters need. When we want to small talk we'll head over to Facebook but we come here for building skill and getting ideas.

I live in the UK, and, actually, I DO find my old stuff much nicer than what I can buy now. I have some Basic Grey papers that you can't buy now. Styles have changed, and they've all gone a bit, well, kitsch for me. But, you're right. They're supposed to be used! 🙂

I recently started an art journal and my aunt who has been scrapbooking for a long time invited me to look through her scrap supplies and take what I want. It took me 4 HOURS to go through all of the paper! She has so much paper lol I’ve been watching your videos for inspiration. I have so many beautiful papers I want to use them, so thank you for these videos. Otherwise I may just use them as wallpaper for my craft area 😂

I actually went through my paper pads, and yes, I have some that are TWELVE years old!!! We buy them because they are so beautiful, then put them away and never see them!! Am getting out my scissors ✂️!!

Thank you for the inspiration, Amber. I did it! I used an old single page of scrap paper, stamps, matte gel medium, etc. and made a double page in my art journal.

I've collected and used my papers for 20 years. Scrapbooking paper continues to be ideal for collage and art journals. Amber is 100% right. Why buy something if it's going to become compost? Old papers are often trendy, cool at the time, then their bloom fades. Buy paper and use them. THAT SAID we all come across paper that is 1000% perfect and absolutely who I am and what interests me long term. I buy 4 or 6 or 12 sheets AND use them all the time. I have one design I call my happy paper because it makes me smile every time I look at it. I also collect theme papers that I use again and again -- water, grass, clouds, and starry skies. AND do not buy paper pads or packs. I might buy one priced $7 or under but I know I will recycle half or more. At one point every company was stuffing woodgrain patterns into their pads, I've got maybe four sheets, the rest either get donated or go to the recycler. THERE IS SUCH AS THING AS TOO MUCH. I was at a garage sale once with a truly huge box of scrapbook paper, 1000s of sheets dumped in a box because the man's wife had died. I told him about donating and I hope he did. It would be terribly sad for your children or family to inherit paper you never used. NO MORE COMPOST. Use your paper.

Lovely tea cups! My grandmother collected them so your project really struck a cord for me 💜 She had a tiny teacup with a butterfly for the handle. I always picked that one for our tea parties! I do not have a paper museum (yet) as I am relatively new to paper crafting. Good advice to not let that happen. Oh yes, I could see that easily. My challenge is "sacrificing" one side to use the other! Oh the agony!

I always feel that I have to use my papers as part of a page rather than the center piece. Thanks for this I'm going to have a search through my beloved stash for some centre pieces.

This looks great and I am definitely going to try and have a go at something like this. Just a personal preference- I liked the tea cups better before you added the heavy black outlines. But as ai said this is just my personal preference.

I have lots of craft paper and cant seem to use it because they're pretty. So one day, I cut them all in 4s so I'll be obligated to use it lol. This is just gorgeous! I have never done art journaling 'cos I'm intimidated by it but I make handmade cards. I always found it hard to cut into pretty paper. Some of my paper is older than 10 years!!! Its time to do it 'cos its looking so dated now, silly me! When I saw you cut into the paper I went, EEK! :-D
