This man is probably the best firearms instructor alive today. I think the thing that I like the most about Clint is that he stresses being competent with multiple weapons platforms. You may not always be fighting with your own gun.

@gshdrums I carry a full size 1911 and believe me, it's slide and frame width are narrower than many modern guns like the Glock or XD. And it's WIDTH that is the key dimension for concealability. Barrel length is a non issue with an inside the waistband holster. With the right holster, a full size 1911 will disappear under a T shirt.
@pdalko
@pdalko 14 жыл бұрын
As opposed to full sized autos like the 1911 or Glock 17/21/22, the shorter barrel of guns like the Glock 26 and 27 make drawing at a table less complicated. Drawing from the holster takes slightly less range of motion also with the shorter barrel. There are also more options for concealment for shorter barrel guns like pocket holsters.

before soneone considers a firarm AT ALL they should already KNOW its the last resort, and further more will be tought so during any training they officially recieve to be able to carry the weapon consealed. Clint is simply helping with tips and ideas to build on what you should already know, incase you ever do need to use that last resort. : )

At 2:19 the problem is that I, and many others, consider the attire way overdressed. In any nice place we will take our jackets off - and here in Florida we probably won't be wearing long pants. It's something to consider.

ahh! I see what you are saying. I just hate the chunkyness of the 27. Its just so uncomfortable long term. you could go with a compact 1911? That way, it'll keep the trim single stack package and have the same range of motion as the 27 or 30.

Picky; Whatever works for you and your lifestyle. You may have to adapt your 'wardrobe" to carrying hardware (or tupperware)... Or carry a smaller gun if its the only thing you are willing to compromise. its your life. I've gone to a small single stack 9 because it is so easy to carry concealed though I 'd never "go towar" with it .A simple 9mm in your wasteband beats my1911 in the safe. Give Clint a break."Stylish" or "deadly" Yevs St. Laurant? which would you rather be?

Do you ever instill in students that the firearm is ALWAYS the last resort & most scenarios (armed robbery) the best response is to comply? Because I notrice some eople on KZfaq perpetuate a myth that any gun owner can shoot three armed men in less than five seconds & a host of other myths.

If all that is the case, train as often as possible to be able to shoot as fast as possible. Of course there are PLENTY of people that say your problem is training. Learning to carry 1 in the chamber regardless of safety. Do what YOU feel is best, become better at it. Then train some more!

+Larz Man, I suspect we've all been there. My advice is to get out there and use the gun and get comfortable with it. Learn safe handling, etc (not saying you haven't already, but you have to be confident in it as well as competent). Unfortunately the world we're living in now dictates that you actually need a round in the chamber. I've seen too many videos of injured people dying because they were down to one hand and/or didn't have time to chamber that round that was wasn't in the chamber. Go to an outdoor range and practice one handed manipulation of a gun (get a safety person to spot for you if you haven't done this before because you can make some serious mistakes holding a gun between your knees while you cram a magazine into it). It's a real eye opener as to how tough things can get. Oh by the way, doing it from cover with someone shooting back is 10x harder. As Clint says, "you can do everything right in a gun fight and still get killed."
@TheLegion1776
@TheLegion1776 6 жыл бұрын
I've seen more surveillance videos of people getting shot and killed because they had to rack their pistol before getting a shot off than the other way around. I would absolutely practice and learn until comfortable carrying with a round chambered. It might just save your life.

I can 100% say, "just quit" is not an option....if you get comfortable with the idea of keeping it hot on a nightstand or in the safe, carrying that way will come naturally....it may take some time, but making yourself comfortable with a loaded gun everywhere except in the holster isn't a bad way to start....

I had a friend that hated carrying a striker fired gun with one chambered. When I explained how a double action only semi worked he thought he could carry one since there was no stored energy in the action. Can't recall how the Taurus works but this might be something to consider.

@daffyduckhunt odd since its a pleonasm then and you fire a pistol with 2 hands else you aren't being optimally effective imo. And what i said isnt wrong if you just change the word pistol to what-ever you call a semi-automatic vertically feeded handgun then. since revolvers arent vertically fed.

You weren't listening very well. He said the biggest gun YOU WILL CARRY. He didn't say the biggest gun possible. A .22 in your pocket beats a .45 at home. It boils down to what you will CARRY. But on the subject of the biggest gun possible, I'll say this: If you're every involved in a shooting, I'll bet you change your mind. If you survive it you will probably realize the foolishness of carrying small guns and limited ammo. I carry two guns and a spare mag everywhere I go.

I'm going to have to disagree here. Making a decision about what to carry based primarily on the size of the gun is ridiculous and stupid. What you carry should be based on what you trust to be accurate, reliable, and effective. It should also be a weapon that you are proficient with (expert with would be better). For myself and MANY others, the weapon that fits that description is my full size 1911.
