The Bosch PROFACTOR 18V Surgeon 12in. Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw Kit comes with a 2P 8Ah battery. The saw performs well with this battery, but we wanted to test this against the Bosch Endurance 3P 12Ah battery. We hooked up our voltage meter to prove our observations and went after it.
As you can see in the video, the saw did not disappoint. In my opinion, the 12Ah battery is the way to go with this saw!

It literally wasn't that long ago that a cordless full size mitersaw was only a dream, now not only is it a reality, but you got options for batteries! Hell they even make a battery jack hammer. What a time to be alive.

It's crazy that we can have an 18v, 12" miter saw perform like that. We are so spoiled compared to the previous generation.

Nice! I saw similar results with the 12ah vs the 8ah when testing the track compatible strong arm saw. But having to slow down the cuts on the miter (lack of power) is precisely the reason I haven’t bought the surgeon miter saw.

Would like to see you mark the blade to count the different rpms under load in the batteries. Would have to mark high up on the blade towards the blade bolt so that it wouldn't get removed while cutting

I have a 3 or 4 extra 4AH batteries would the performance significantly improve if I spent the money and jumped up to a 12AH battery?

You are becoming the De Facto tool test channel Brian! I hope you and yours had a great Holiday Season and wish you a Happy and safe and Healthy New Year! Very interesting, but really proves out the physics involved here. I notice big difference in my M18 Fuel blower with the 12.0 vs either the 8.0 HO or the 9.0 HD batteries. The 12.0 seems to hold up the speed longer, and doesn’t drop in performance as much when it gets to like two bars. Santa got me the 18 volt 5 inch sander, and the multi tool, both of which came with the 4.0 Core battery kit gratis. I have used all the platforms, and own most, and I will say that the Bosch batteries are among the best. I have used Core batteries previously, and they are very impressive. I’ve noticed the Milwaukee Tahoe saw runs much better in the 12.0 vs 6.0 or 8.0 battery. Interesting that amp hours matter. It must have something to do with more individual cells being drawn on at the same time ??

I had to go to the torque test channel to see if they used the 8 or 12 before. They used the 4 and the 8 in that test. Makes me wonder if the 12AH would bring even MOOORE beans on the 1/2 high torque impact?? Interesting to see the difference in voltage drop here though. This must be a very demanding saw.

It would depend on how much that 1/2" takes. That might be a tool where you do not see much of an increase.

It also depends on what tool you're using, a miter is hungry for power so the 12amp is better choice but let say a impact driver/ wrench the 8amp might be better, Torque test channel used a 6amp battery on the Milwaukee mid torque impact wrench and he got the best performance from the 6amp over the 12amp

I agree Lou. This is going to be interesting to see what happens in more testing in the future. I was told I would get no power gain off the 12 in the miter saw, just runtime. Not the case.

Both are great. The Dewalt seems easier to keep dead set on an angle and also has 200 times the dust collection. If putting it up next to a wall was an issue, the Bosch, otherwise, Dewalt.

Samsung INR21700-40T (as far as I know - those are the ones in 4Ah and 8Ah Core)

All of the large battery packs are expensive. They have 15 cells inside and you pay for the extra runtime.

As an electrician it’s funny watching a non electrician explain how batteries work. Generally speaking not necessarily wrong but the terminology just isn’t there.
