More severe storms hit Texas, leaving thousands without power

2 ай бұрынMore than 400,000 homes and businesses are without power in Texas after another onslaught of severe weather Tuesday night brought baseball-sized hail and wind strong enough to move a jet parked on the tarmac at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. It’s always been humid in Houston 😂 what u mean? It’s certainly gotten HOTTER, but the humidity makes it much worse. When I was growing up we saw way more hurricanes like Sandy, Ike, etc. but it was all right for a while. As of now, I don’t think Houston is part of Tornado Alley like Northern Texas is, but after Hurricane Harvey the rain and flooding has been treacherous. It’s become a problem our constituents shouldn’t be ignoring anymore. We need better infrastructure to avoid flooding and ERCOT was put on the spot after days of most Texas being without electricity.

Haha golden! Abbott was quick to let any fool have guns without needing a permit and waste money while killing people at the border with the flotation devices, but they haven’t figured out how to deal with these weather problems. Harvey happened in 2017, highlighting our vulnerability when it comes to flooding, and the freeze in February shut down our power grid for days. Texas has been reaching record high temperatures, did they think those problems would magically go away without addressing them? What good to us are those things he illegally placed at the border? He’s got our tax money in his pocket and he needs to do his job and sort Texas out. If that’s too much to ask from him there’s many of us willing to give him the boot.

Been in DFW for about 30 years. Some years are worse than others. The issue I see is the power grid can’t support the increase in energy demand due to increase in population, increase in electric vehicles, bitcoin servers, etc. it all adds up! Last summer they sent out multiple notices to conserve energy in the summer due to record heat. And supposedly this summer is supposed to be just as hot.

ive been without power for 2 days in this Texas heat. The company i work for has also been without power. Its friggin hot in my office, yes i still have to be here... im actually thankful the boss lets me work through this, i need the money. but yeah this Texas grid has got to go... along with Abbot, Cruz and Dan Patrick... their idea of what texas should be is a hell hole. The rich get everything, even Mexican resort vacations while the rest of die of a poorly funded grid and no access to badly needed medicine.

This is normal weather for Texas. Lived here over 30 years. Power outages at random times of the week are also normal. If this is inconvenient for you, then maybe texas is not for you. Also, the heat is really bad here especially because of the humidity

No, it's climate change. The sooner you accept the reality of this, instead of being distracted by all these silly conspiracy theories, then the more pressure a greater number of like-minded people can put on local government to start doing something about it. But while you, and a good many others, divide your beliefs between cloud seeding, chemtrails, Illuminati, Haarp, god, aliens, and whatever other rubbish there is out there, the fossil fuel companies and other massively destructive businesses don't receive enough public pressure to do anything about their activities, which are the cause of all this. We are not going to be able to start to solve the problem until everyone understands and accepts the one and only reason for it. Because once you understand the cause, you know how to begin to solve it.

I went through this storm in a travel trailer with a pole barn type covering. It stayed in place but 25 yds from trailer is flat and on top of 2 cars. My trailer and covering is still there. I am so lucky

I don't know about Texas building codes, but wind shear resistant structures should be the norm for every modern home. Florida learned its lesson in the 90's. Perhaps at state levels only we should rethink our roofing materials as well.
