Great video. Thank you. Secretariat is my favorite horse of all time. I got to visit him at Claiborne in September 1989. He was in his stall, and I had my picture taken with him, petted him and even put my arm around his neck. The groom told me that if Secretariat was feeling better he probably wouldn't have let me do that. All he said was that he had sore feet. Exactly four weeks to the day following my visit was when they had to put him down. I was devastated upon hearing that news and cried for three days everytime I thought of Secretariat. I also sent flowers to his funeral service.

Oh my goodness you are so blessed to have touched that beautiful creature. He foundered and had to be euthanized. Happens to a lot of thoroughbreds. If it weren’t for Secretariat and Bold Ruler (both foundation stallions and legends out of Claiborne) I would not have had the gift of owning my own beloved racehorse, Hawaiian Diablo. I called him Harley. Both secretariat and Bold Ruler were in his lineage. I purchased my racehorse at a hunter-jumper barn after he was auctioned at the racetrack because he couldn’t run fast enough. Because he had such a great pedigree (Bold Ruler was famous for producing some of the greatest hunter-jumpers in the world), it was rumored he sold at Keenland auction for 250,000.00 as a yearling. He was the best horse I ever owned.

It was something that two Triple Crown winners from two different countries were in the same barn at different ends of the barn. Legend. No horse is a Secretariat. The further he ran the faster he got. Saw all his races in the Triple Crown with My Father. When he broke so clean in the last leg I yelled Dad they will never touch him. Then I remember the cold chills as he ran. I truly believe with his big heart he was just warming up at the end of his races. When I first saw him I told my Dad look at his hind end it was so high . He's gonna win cause he's running down hill. Lol. Gotta remember I was a young kid that loves horses.

But, they were both out of Native Dancer mares. I was raised on tales of The Ghost, as well as the original Big Red. Not childish, madam, just my preferences.

An unbelievable comment from an unbelievable mindset. Absolutely irrational. Congrats on being so childish that when called out you simply post the same emotional garbage.

Yes to this day laminitis remains uncurable. It also claimed the life of Barbaro as well as ironically Bernardini who beat Barbaro on that fateful Preakness day

I don't get it either with all of the handlers secretariat had. Same thing happened with bodacious the goat of bulls he died of a hoof infection makes zero sense to me how a hoof infection went unnoticed
