My 15 year old son, a product of the modern age with his Xbox & iPod etc, watched some Eric & Ernie clips with me and laughed his head off. That, I feel, says a very great deal about these two wonderful, wonderful men - and no song could sum them up better than this one :-)

You're joking. The Two Ronnies material was full of sexual innuendo. All those 'marching up and down on the spot' musical numbers were full of 'ooh, he's going to say tits. oh, he said a different word' types of gags.

Wow Steve, that is a GREAT sentiment! I was a kid in the States when it was broadcast here briefly, and my older brother enjoyed it. I did too, but it was vastly beyond my understanding at 8 or so. But the duo resonated with me. As a teenager, I remember happening to pick up a British newspaper while in Canada on vacation and reading the sad news that Eric Morcambe had passed. I do remember Ernie appearing in a popular American sitcom of the era in the following year, and making a point to watch it. The upside of the Internet is being able to experience the joy of Eric and Ernie in basically new-to-me sketches and performances. I've always appreciated British culture, and while many American wouldn't get it, I certainly do. Even the theme song just makes me smile, and it was a favorite as a kid. So I can understand how the bus image can be uplifting. Just think, these two were in the war, and they came out on top. Things may be difficult now, but I think of that lovely song and can't help but think nice things!

What do you think of this so far.....???? I still remember 28 May 1984 even though I was only 10 at the time - 50 million people lost a "close relative" that day, for those not old enough to remember, when people say it was like that they really DO mean it. May they always bring us sunshine. And its only 4 weeks to everyone's favourite Morecambe and Wise time...

Modern days shows are a load of rubbish I keep reading that The X FACTOR get's 15 million viewiers & Simon Cowell gets paid so much money for having no talent, yet Eric and Ernie pulled in 30 million viewers when the population in the UK was far smaller than today. Need I say anymore. Morecambe and Wise were the real Kings of Television.
