Morel Mushroom Hunting - Early April 2024 - Yellow And Black Morel | Morchella | Spring Mushrooms

This mushroom hunting / foraging / overview video was recorded mostly on 5th and 6th April 2024 in Slovakia, Europe. However, it also contains footages recorded earlier in March 2024. It shows picking of yellow and black morel mushrooms (Morchella sp.) and shows also a few pieces of Early morel / Wrinkled thimble morel mushrooms (Verpa bohemica). The yellow morels are from warmer areas of Slovakia, while the black and early morels are from colder areas of the country.

Spring is well advanced there. Nice to see the Forest green. This Morels sure are hard to see. You have good eyes! Those Morels are huge!

Yes, the warm area of the country is almost in the summer mode now :) Thanks to the morels being so huge, it was easier for me to spot them. It was great.

Great video! I really love when you point out the trees and other surroundings for the different mushrooms. It is super helpful when learning to scout out possible spots.

Do you ever find spiders in the morel crevices? They seem more firm than squishy, do the dark ones taste different?

I think I would need a direct comparison there - I actually don't eat them often. I dehydrated these and saved for later. About spiders, sometimes you can find them or other insect too, but they usually escape once you start moving the mushroom.
