Okay but my mom jokes that me and my brother are anomalies. Because I look absolutely nothing like my mother and instead look more like a skinny, female version of my father (the only reason I bring up the skinny part is because I'm like borderline anorexic not because I'm fat shaming or anything. Id anything I'm actually saying that me being this skinny is a problem since I'm unnaturally skinny and have problems gaining weight). The thing is.... My mother has the majority of the dominant genes while my father has the majority of the recessive genes... Like, I have strawberry blonde hair leaning slightly more towards red with blue/green eyes (my eye color changes color sometimes I don't know. One day they're blue the next they're green then they'll go back to blue regardless of the lighting don't ask me my eyes are weird) And then my brother was born and he has platinum blonde hair (although nowadays his hair is more of a dirty blonde) and blue eyes. Meanwhile my mom has dark brown hair and either brown or hazel eyes if her driver's license is to be believed.... We take after our mother more in regards to things that aren't actually visible like things related to our health (and even then it's more of a mix of her and my father's genetics (especially in regards to me since I lost the genetic lottery in regards to disorders and stuff and essentially got the bad sides of both of my parents mixed together and multiplied in some regards....my brother got off mostly Scott free aside from getting asthma, several allergies, and a slightly weakened immune system (mainly due to the asthma) from my mom's side of the family.... conveniently enough though I _DID_ avoid all of that and actually have the best immune system in my family despite my unhealthy weight and sleeping habits so there's that at least...) but aside from that neither of us look anything like our mother at all. It's so bad that people used to (and occasionally still do) think she was our older sister and/or thought that our _GRANDMOTHER_ (her mother) was our mother....my grandmother is in her late 70s and she _STILL_ gets mistaken for our mother because we apparently look more alike than we do to our actual mother...which probably explains just how the recessive genes won out over the dominant ones (because my grandmother also had them meaning my mother obviously carried them as well... although funnily enough none of her kids actually inherited them although some of _THEIR_ children (so me, my brother, and my younger cousins) did so apparently it just skipped a generation lol) but either way my mom still complains that neither of her kids look anything like her.
