Galeem is a being of light, sure, but it is also a being of rigidity and control, so its victory is the erasure of anything it can't control. Dharkon, similarly, is chaos and destruction, so its victory results in the collapse of everything. True victory is a balance of these things, Yin and Yang in harmony.

There are a couple of Fire Emblem games that have bad endings. The first is Mystery of the Emblem Book 2: if you don't get all the spheres, you can't turn the Fire Emblem into the Binding Shield so you never discover that the maidens you rescue in the "final" level are actually Gharnef and some followers, so the game abruptly ends. The DS remake expands on the situation: Medeus has fully revived more powerful than ever and ravages the land. Oddly enough, this ending is canon to Tokyo Mirage Sessions, which reveals the situation got so bad that the heroes had to flee to another world and become reduced to their base components to stand a chance. If you don't obtain all legendary weapons (without breaking them) in Binding Blade, the game ends after defeating Zephiel and you never discover his backup method to create a world ruled by emotionless dragons. The Champion's Sword manga follows this ending but with Al (not to be confused with Alphonse from FEH) as the MC instead of Roy because they were being made at the same time. In Three Hopes, continuing to antagonize Jeralt's Mercenaries makes the protagonist realize their revenge was really petty, especially when they themselves admitted they weren't that sad about their dead comrades. Last but not least but avoiding specifics because it's recent, losing at the final boss of Engage results in the main character becoming the villain's slave, his sister mind controlled and all their friends are dead.
