If you live in the Niagara area, this is an easy, fun and free adventure to do with kids. It was very exciting in the wind the day we went, and my 3-year-old grandson remembers this as the place we had to yell at each other to be heard.
Morgan's Point is a very small conservation area where the loop trail is less than 1 km. There is also a rocky beach on Lake Erie, as well as a boardwalk and a playground. There is a parking lot and it is no charge for parking or for entrance into the conservation area.
The trails are not accessible due to roots and rocks, as well as stairs on the boardwalk.
In addition to the conservation area, Port Colborne is the end of the Welland Canal that goes from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. There is a lift bridge in town, with some parkland and walkways to watch the huge ships enter or exit the canal. You can use an app to check the schedule for the locks along the canal (Port Colborne is Locks #8, although Locks #3 near St Catharine's is the best for viewing the canal locks in operation).
We didn't manage to see any large ships in the canal, but we have seen some in the past, and my grandson is fascinated by them.
