I think Camille's ult worked because you spellshield after she casted it on you. If Morde tries to ult you when spellshield is up, it blocks his magical realm, so pretty sure it should block Camille's forcefield too or at least negate you not being able to leave it.

I can say that I have mastery over morg of over 75% WR and I use presence of mind to gain mana while poking the enemy. Im not sure if it's better than other runes.
