Sensei Higaonna, you are the best! The IOGKF gave me a purposeful childhood and built me to be a man. I will be always grateful to my Senseis for their teaching. Thank you for protecting the true karate! Greetings from Hungary.

This is weird!! I don't mean that in a bad sense, as I do all these exercises!! I'm a retired aikidoka teacher from the Tomiki School... I also did amateur boxing and judo before taking up the Tomiki style of aikido.... I also did karate for about a year in 1974 - 1975, but did not know the style I was practising, so it must have been Goju ryu as the exercises are identical!! I also practice Isometric/Isotonic exercise as part of my conditioning exercises and also do isometric stretching even though I've retired from teaching... It certainly keeps one fit & healthy!!

Go ju ryu is strong and great,these exercises seem primitive but they work, with right breathing and combination of tense and relaxation.Anyway this is 0.0000001 % of what this great style can offer.Thank you for the post!

I'm strangely comforted by the fact that Sensei Higaonna has trouble kneeling and standing..PLEASE note I am not happy for any pain and discomfort he may be in... Purely because being an older and infirm karateka I fully sympathise with him... I can't kneel anymore but with inspiration from such has this master we carry on...long may he live..

Hmm. When we train in our dojo we normally do some light running before stretching to warm up the limbs and then after that we do the stretching - but then again I live in cold Sweden so our limbs are always cold:). Always wondered which order you can/should do it though....
@mattgreene4780
@mattgreene4780 5 жыл бұрын
Warm up gradually for about 10 minutes, then do your run, then stretch. By the time you get to the stretching you shall be warm already. If you're running outside in winter, warming up prior to your run is absolutely necessary.
