Phabeni is a ray of sunshine for us and all the herd. No matter what is going on in life or the world, there he is...a little force of nature pushing to thrive. Thank goodness for our beautiful elephants and HERD. Khanyisa is his guardian angel.

I remember the time that Khanyisa got startled by something, trumpeted loudly, and the entire herd went into defense mode. Now we have Phabeni trumpeting in excitement at seeing the herd and Khanyisa responding like lightning to get to him. That shows the bond and pure love they all have for each other! Beautiful!

Watching Khanysia run to get Phabeni is so sweet and then to watch Phabeni run to the others. Just so touching. Hearing the trumpeting is always amazing. It all makes me very happy.

Seeing Khanyisa's protective and very loving side towards Phabeni is just so amazing. The way she rushes towards the baby when he screamed and like:"what happened, Baby Brother? You're sister is here" is truly heartwarming. The change in Khanyisa from being the spoiled one to the doting sister is pleasantly surprising and a great joy to witness. Unconditional love is really the dominant trait in this herd of humans and ellies. When Adine told Baby Phabeni that his mama, Setombe, is there, and she is his mother of another species is the very definition of selfless love. It is also remarkable how Phabeni responds and goes to Adine now when his name is called, unlike in the past when Adine said he will not come to her, because he is an elephant. Now, he seems to understand that Adine may not be an elephant, but she loves him like her own son. And finally, I am so happy to see my sweet Timi, she really is a young beauty. My dear Phabeni, What a loud trumpet you have! I am very happy to hear the sound though, Very strong and powerful. That tells me that you are recovering nicely! And Khanyisa, oh my heart is filled with joy, as I see her running towards you, to see what was going on with you. She has come a long way from kicking you, when you first met the herd, to being your loving big sister and one of your protectors as well! Phabeni looks much better now. His backbone isn't sticking out nearly as much as before, he must've put on a little much needed condition. He's a trooper. Khanyisa adores him, what a wonderful big sister she has become.

It seems to be a beautiful morning to take the babies out. Watching your videos gives me peace, serenity, and hope. The peace in my head as I am bipolar and peace is hard to come by, unless I get to watch HERD. The serenity is from knowing there is wonderful, dedicated caregivers for these babies (big & small), and the hope is that I have a great connection to HERD, and the followers, and my hope grows for the elephants future. ❤❤❤❤

Phabeni was screaming blue murder Khanyisa got a shock and as a good sister rush to see what was happening but nothing major just the exitement to go in the Bush with his Family I presume Sebakwe watching over his Family spending quality time with Kumbura his protege when she was younger and gives Timisa a little poke in the rear to go in front Timi likes to play with little Miss Sunshine but also appreciates the company of older Bulls like Gentleman Fishan her Knight or Sebakwe this one having an undianable advantage to fetch the freshest branches of the Marula tree Timisa in the foreground to collect what he has left for her Little Phabeni covered ih attention by his Mamas Dame Setombe and Adine, his dedicated allomother Kumbura even Mama Lundi lets him suckle He is a clever little Ellie and knows how to play his charm ❤🐘🫶

When Adine calls Phabeni Beni.....he makes a B-line to Adine with such a playfulness and security! I know we have all said it so many times but this herd truly is special and such a joy to watch! Aside from their majestic size, this herd interaction is just so sweet, the way they love each other like blood relatives. A joy to watch Khanyisa run and shriek with excitement to fetch little Phabeni. And the way little Phabeni turns to his human mama in the midst of his ellie fun, like he’s trying to say: “look at me Mama, look….I’m with the big boys!” And Sebakwe gently nudging Timisa to get a move on. Just sooo sweet! ❤ them all!

Regarding elephant names there were news reports of exciting research results a couple of days back. It appears that elephants refer to other elephants by name using different types of rumbles.

Phabeni was ready to join the herd his loud trumpets sounded like he was excitedly saying, "I'm here and ready to go. Don't forget me! Don't leave without me!" ❤

OMG!! When Khanyisa trumpeted with excitement to see Phabeni; it reminded me of the video when klaserie, Setombe and bubi ushered in an incredible welcome for Khanyisa joining the herd that morning. Happy memories 🥰💜🐘💜🐘💜
