They need to stop safaris. These animals need to be left along and live without being threatened. They're a l ready taking up all the land these animals live on and having to be forced to interact with people. These people are taking a risk being so close to these animals and risking the lives of the animals if they come to close. These elephants need to knock those cameras out of their hands.

During my recent visit in the Kruger, our safari driver was very clear and he said we are now in the territory of wild animals and as such give the animals reasonable space, respect and all the animals in the park has a right of way. It was when we came across a herd of about 10 elephants who came straight to our vehicle but simply check us up and walked away and then understood what he was saying. We were all dead silent but that was such an incredible sight which was captured on our video camera.

Always stand your ground against an elephant. They're actually relatively passive unless there are young ones around and usually won't engage in a fight unless absolutely necessary. Elephants - especially African Elephants - evolved alongside Humans for over 2 million years. For all that time, Humans had been developing strategies to hunt animals Elephants for food. But 2 million years is a long time - long enough for other African animals to develop behaviors to help them survive alongside humans. For Elephants, the primary behavior is to try and scare humans away. In reality, they are in fact more scared of you. They do the same with other predators, like lions.

Now is a good time to remind everyone that “scientific consensus” in the 1960’s was that Elephants were “overgrazing” areas in Africa. Allen Savory led an effort that slaughtered 40,000 African Elephants in the 1960’s to “relieve” pressure on African vegetation. Savory now says that was the biggest mistake of his life. I’m sorry, but you don’t just get to say “Oops” when your efforts accelerated an iconic species toward extinction. Look up Allen Savory for more information on this colossal blunder.

@@trendmassacre8423 - I’m far from a PETA freak. I am pointing out that “scientific consensus” is not infallible and guiding public policy by using “the science is settled” is prone to huge misdirection that cannot be undone.
