I had to stop this and comment, Nikki. Of all the things beautiful in this video, what touched me most is how you just go ahead and clean up the mess from your precious Peppercorn. I’ve been cleaning up messes from my old poodle Rudy, for 14 years. He’s not doing well these days, blind and deaf...neurological issues, and I will surely miss cleaning up after my poodle boy one day. Much love, I appreciate how you care for all things you love.

Nikki…. Such an inspiration….. I may be older than your mother, but may I say….. I have spent my entire life moving things around. I am watching this while moving my entire basement around after it has been painted. I appreciate my nesting(code for moving furniture and rearranging things) all my life! Enjoy it! I'm also a morning person. I go to bed earlier than my husband so I always have dirty dishes in the morning to clean, it used to bother me to wake up to them but not anymore somehow it's not bad to do them when the house is quiet and the time is to myself. Have a lovely day Nikki

You and I were making those cinnamon buns at the same time yesterday (one Granddaughter was home sick, so later breakfast). I go to bed at 8:00, so that I can have some quiet time at 4:30 a.m. before I have to wake up the first Granddaughter for school. Her bus leaves at 6:00 a.m., so she gets up at 5:15, so she can nap on the couch before getting ready. Love those loose curls.

Mornings are so important to me. Getting up early and having devotions. I bake banana nut bread or make soups. Most of my work gets done early in the morning. I try and make sure all dishes are done they night before so I come into a clean kitchen in the morning. I don't start working til 830 am so I get a lot done

Nikki, THANK YOU for sharing your thought about finding a schedule that works for you. I am a full time worker and I aspire to be a competent homemaker but it is difficult as I am time poor and I take on the majority of daily tasks alone. I see a woman like you and think what is wrong wit me, why haven't I figured it out, but hearing your thoughts helps me realize that it is a work in progress and to take it one day at a time and just do my best. ♥

There isn’t anything wrong with you, believe me. When we are time poor we choose what is most important to spend our time on and that looks different for everyone. Do what you can when you can.

Stop beating yourself up! Do what you can and let the rest go. Assign choirs to other family members to help you. Doing it all while you’re body quietly breaks down is highly overrated. Good luck!

Nikki, I had 6 children. Like you, I wanted everything done at night when I would go to bed. I had all lunches packed, backpacks and shoes at the back door, even breakfast all set on the table (except for hot and dairy items), as my children got older and the two oldest were beginning high school, I was SO stressed every night!! I had to change as they changed. It’s hard. Hang on! I am a morning person. Thank goodness I made it through those years without loosing my mind!!! You will too!

I always wished I was a morning person but I am not. I used to clean while my family slept and get everything in order. My children slept even while I cleaned their rooms and if one of them would wake up I remember we would make some goodie and then they’d go back to sleep. I was usually in bed by two in the morning. Even now my children know not to call till after 8:00am. It worked wonderfully till my husband retired a few years ago, so I had to change some things but its not natural for me to be up early and I feel like I’m dragging all day. I loved your green desk in that room. (Isn’t funny how your viewers can really feel like we are your family and have a say so 😂 Everything looks beautiful as always 😘 ~ Janet

This one video has made me a subscriber. I have been getting up earlier than everyone else in order to have time for me. I put a way the dishes while my water heating up tea, I will then work on a project and sometimes I simply just walk around the quiet house - taking it all in. Blessings to you.

My husband just started a job working 2nd shift so now we get up later and go to bed later. Now I do my homemaking in the evening when he is at work so we can spend time together while he is home.

Your rose garden is looking beautiful! I love how you ended this video - so pretty. Agreed - one can get in a real funk if there's not time carved out for oneself. Also, flagging energy is usually what puts an end to getting all of my housework done. I think I'll follow your lead and just take a nap for a bit - I'd probably get a lot more done.

I can totally relate to this video! My homeschooled girls are now 11 and 14 and as a fulltime homemaker, lately I've been starting to struggle with my bedtime routine (cleaning mostly) because although I let them stay up until 10p I prefer to go to bed much earlier. I'm having a hard time letting them go to bed after I do but I know I need to get over it because we're entering a new season in our lives as they're getting older.

Nikki, What a peaceful beautiful routine of your morning . I love the idea of getting ready for the day early and starting the day. Although I don’t get this in my everyday the days I do feel so rewarding. I love the simple ness of a breakfast on a pretty plate. A few snippets of roses to bring flowers into your home. And your dresses n hair are very feminine. Thank you for sharing. Oh I feel you with the feelings of things just being not right. I'm not naturally a morning person but I'm trying to make myself because it does make all the difference. I need alone time too. It's so important. Side note: I wish we had those cinnamon buns in a can here in Australia. I love them but they take so long to make the old fashioned way!

Your curls and dress are lovely. Having a window above the kitchen sink and handwashing dishes to enjoy the light streaming in makes my soul sing. When I was little, my mom curled mine and my sisters hair with socks.

I’m also a morning person. I’m retired and my favorite Routine is to get into the shower immediately. If I know the plans for my day, I’ll dress right away but if it isn’t clear what I’ll be doing I just put my PJ’s back on or a robe. Then I make my bed, start a wash and make a cup of coffee that I can sit and enjoy. It my only be 6:30 but I feel like I’m ready for whatever the day brings. If I’m going to yoga that day I have time to check emails, visit with hubby (also retired) or start the days to do list before leaving at 8:30. The trade off is that I will need a rest later in the day. Just an hour, but so peaceful!!

Hi Nikki, loving the contrast the subtle green desk brings in your room. The blue upholstered chairs are beautiful and it softens the wood pieces around them making them appear whitewashed or pickle-wood almost; just fabulous. Your right about the gold framed mirror. Maybe it could be painted to a softer tone. It is a beautiful mirror very dramatic. That color of gold I find is better suited to deep toned backgrounds which allows them to sparkle & shine. The changes you made are nicely done and sometimes that's all one needs to rest the mind for the time being. Take it easy Nikki. ❤💛💙

I get up at least an hour earlier than everyone else , but I can’t go to bed without the dishes done I found what helped was eating dinner earlier than I use too so that dishes were done by at least 7.30pm

Thank you! I had a lot less when my kids were little so there wasn't as much to tidy. Their toys drove me nuts and sometimes I would need to have a serious declutter, especially when seeing they didn't play with most of them but threw them on the ground. In many ways, it feels keeping the house tidy is harder today than when they were younger but that's just because they do everything on their own now and make messes that I'm trying to get them to clean instead of me just doing it in times past. It's a different kind of hard.

It is frustrating, it’s only Peppercorn and he has ever since he was added to the family. He marks everything!

Our boy chihuahua does this too, even though he was “fixed” when he was old enough. We put belly bands on him lined with feminine products until it is time for him to go outside to do his business.

When my miniature schnauzer got to be older he sometimes had accidents but we have area rugs😕 so it was annoying but as my husband told me " sometimes old men just can't hold their water" A little something for me to look forward to in the future, I guess LoL

Dear, you are at a very busy season in your life. You have two or three jobs, in addition to four children , a home, a husband, a mother, grandparents, a YouTUBE channel, shall I go on? Take a step back , and give yourself permission not to be all things to all people. Trying to figure out if doing housework is better at four AM rather then eight PM because you are exhausted at night and energetic in the morning is like rearranging deck chair on the Titanic. The things going to sink deck chairs and all. Give yourself permission to do 80% of the work 80% of the time. BTY if your children are big enough to do their own laundry, they are big enough to have some meaningful choirs. From 8:00 until 8:30 have a thirty minute mini clean marathon. Assign tasks, set a timer and let everyone work. Your children will learn more from that then almost anything else you can do for them.
