I freaking Love how they changed Baraka from the Jobber to a Tragic Character with a Strong Sense of Honor and Heart to his People and being a Beast that will do the Right Thing, Not to mention that Reptile took the Tragic Role of Hanzo Hasashi losing his Family and being tricked by a Sorcerer.

I never thought in my life I would feel genuine empathy for Baraka AND Reptile! I love that the writers put as much focus on the less famous characters as the much as they do the main cast. Like an Avengers movie!

I love Johnny and Kenshis friednship/bromance in this chapter and it reminds me of their friendship in mkx and how they have such banter between them in the story mode of mkx

While I respectfully don’t ship them as some people I’ve seen suggest, I agree and really appreciate the character development given to both in this story.

@@michaelbush1374Yeah, I know people have their own headcanon and opinions on this relationship, but I personally don’t see them as romantic-ish partners. I honestly love their dynamic here that’s similar what Liu Kang had said in the announcement trailer when it came to the scene with Scorpion and Sub-Zero. From bitter rivals (or sworn enemies, to be more exact) to being united as brothers, which I think is wholesome and well-earned. It also makes me extremely happy when I hear Johnny call Kenshi his best friend when you use the announcer voice in the game.

I fucking love Reptile but he is absolutely the biggest loser in all of MK lore. He: Failed to bring back Kitana and even managed to turn Jade against Kahn in the process all cause he got impatient with her Decided to stay with Kahn instead of banging Khameleon to revive he species and likely will never bang anyone ever All the shit Kahn did in MK3 was blamed on Reptile cause he was the only person the Edenians were able to capture Dies in his own MK4 ending Simps for Nitara Is actually going insane in MK5 and thinks Cyrax is a demon Tries to warn Shao that Shang and Quan are coming to kill him... after they already killed him Is the vessel for Onaga meaning the most important thing Reptile ever did in the lore was die Is being used as a guinea pig by the Red Dragon At least in the NRS era he helped start a civil war in Outworld

for me, two things were absolutely great about this chapter... right before Reptile releases the tarkatans, you can see that our guys could easily fit between those bars Baraka is holding onto :D did none of the QA point this out, or did they leave it for fun... and the second thing was that Johnny isn't a complete dick as he usually is

Johnny has never been a complete dick. Even in MK9 he fights against Kano for Sonya after just meeting her and joins Raiden the second he realizes Raiden isn't just some cosplayer. I think the main difference is that in the OG timeline Johnny goes right from Hollywood to the MK tournament events. While in this new timeline he goes from Hollywood, to months of training with Liu Kang and the others to then the main events of the game.

Liu and Sindel aren't doing nothing. Liu has limited power in Outworld and can't see what they're doing. Sindel doesn't know anything about Baraka or Reptile.

Long time mortal kombat fan and always will be but i feel though all the characters are tight af that their counterparts from mk9 had alot of character to them from the stance to the combos that are literally missing from mk1.. moves that should be in the game like "reptiles slime slide" or rains underhead teleport.. characters of course are similar to mk11's soft looking characters haha idk man i miss mk9 mkx's style of tough scary looking beat your ass looking characters. Hopefully the next game for ines like rain,reptile,smoke,and others they get back to that... mk 9 and x will always be my favorite since so much love was put into them and the designs,sigh,hate that nobody else realizes this but maybe its just me that appreciated all that from past games.

I know what you mean. I think some of the changes are good and some are bad. Personally I like a lot of the new character designs, but Mortal Kombat has definitely lost its edge. What I don't like in this new game is Outworld. Outworld was always a barren wasteland. They basically turned Outworld into Edenia. I don't know if the Ednian realm exist or not in this game. I think Baraka at some point in MK1 said he was Edenian, but that doesn't make any sense because all of Edenias royal family is ruling over Outworld. It would be like Stryker doing police work in the Realm of Order alongside Hotaru instead of Earth. Also I'm sick of the timeline being the main plot device in the story. It's just bad writing. I don't know that I'll get another MK story as good as Deception or Shaolin Monks ever again.
