Liu has so many staggers and plus frames I swear it will feel like he always has a turn. Then add throws, fireballs, and godly movement.

nice guide kung lao kameo definitely feels like it's being slept on for the general cast, low hat is crazy safe and the kameo bar regenerates extremely fast after using it

With Motaro teleport, you can actually get 40% meterless on his standing projectile. I imagine kung lao is similar since he has an ambush teleport as well

Hello, fellow liu kang main here. Think another liu kombo i find very fun and easy to use is B23, J 134, bf1. That does exactly 30% without spending bar and kameo meter. Reason why u love to spam this combo is because the distance you get from the combo is insane. Liu kang flourishes from fullscreen so after both you and ur opponent land, you can just spam projectiles. Repeat 3 times in the match and you win. Im not even kidding. Other than that, i found this video helpful :D

Sonya is pretty underrated for liu imo. Back r1 gives a free side switch launcher and is guarunteed confirmed off f43. The normal r1 air extends and will give an easy 35% from whiff punishing a high with a 7f uppercut. If you catch them in the corner with b23 you'll get 40٪+ meterless. But dont get me wrong kung lao is goated for liu fr

I agree! One of my favorite parts it the 140 damage fwd throw- greatly compliments his hit/throw game. Keeping the corner and getting 22% off of backthrow with Lao is >so< good though XD.

Great guide. I just wish Liu had a tad more range. Really miss his B34 from MK11 which would give him a low starter, add range, and combo off teleport all at once. Would also like to see them give him like an air bounce or something flashy in the air. For all the hype air combat got leading to launch, there’s only a few characters that can cook in the air. Too many empty air strings if you’re just gonna do 134 into air fireball 🤷🏼‍♂️

Regarding fireball clashing, they actually have had it before. In Injustice 2 if you meter burned Sub-Zero projectile, it would eat the opponents projectile and freeze them if it landed

Super nice video it really helps to understand things ,also would you make a guide like this for kung lao iam a little bit disapointed with him as he lacks few iconic tools but what do you think about him,and lastly it it just me or is comboing into fatal blow way harder it seems like a need to cut the combo short to be able to hit it

I love how you explained everything except the minus 45, add 2, plus 6, divide by 9 🤣 that shit lost me but watching you combo def makes me wanna recreate 💯🔥 I’m new to fighting games kinda, so maybe theirs other like me who don’t understand either, but I just felt like it was pokemon for a second with priority and this move out speed others so you wanna equip quick attack and quick silver sash on Liu Kang is all I picked up on 😭😭🤣

It’s a lot at first but it’s really just saying if moves are fast or slow. That’s just the system that’s used if that helps at all!

Am I the only who avoid Liu Kang just because doing dash into B2 does not feel good, and its the core of all his combos? Great guide tho! Keep up with the Kontent! I can really see you becoming one of the greatest MK1 youtubers!

It's really difficult to pull of at first but you'll unlock a lot of combo potential for him (and the whole cast) if you do. Stick to it and you'll get there. A good way to think about it is that you're canceling whatever you were doing prior (another move, special, even falling to the ground) with the dash input. Don't even let the previous action complete to start your dash input.

I’m having trouble doing 1,2 into enhanced dragon kick routes online I get them consistently in training mode. Should I have my input window on short long or medium ? I also put input lag for training mode and I still get the combos down easily it’s just online matches

hey , I have found out something very frustrating this evening that maybe you can help me with, I have only 41h on MK1, I wish so much to main Liu Kang and this evening I am so frustrated, so 1. I don't understand how am I not converting a F43 full hit, I hit them with F43 and then when I try to start the B23 B23 333 combo they just simply block it, my first hit, so I can't even start it, and 2. what is the timing on the grab and kung lao teleport I need to hit, maybe you can tell me when in the animation I need to hit teleport because the same they just get up in time, and block.

Great guide dude. Sidenote, as the game gets explored I have been seeing a lot of different things with kameos. I have started seeing Johnny use lao for the hat a lot. What do you think of this? The low hat itself is so strong, it is so quick and plus 2. If you hold the hat timing wise you can do stuff like something super unsafe like shadow kick into hat. Any string into hat. 21 is amazing into hat because of 212 or 213 hat etc. I know cyrax is all the rage but the Lao hat is unreal good and I think liu, Lao himself, Lao as kameo for Johnny, all being slept on I am just amazed at how quick lao hat kameo comes back. It feels like a legit true projectile not just some kameo help

I think cyrax is the best for the demon cage players that can actually use it for the 40-50% combos, but just go lao or frost if ur not a demon

@@EthanKoreayeah I’m now seeing lao everywhere with every character. Kitana and Lao is really strong too. She covers all space projectile wise with him. And he’s just amazing imo with both Johnny and liu. I’m a bit concerned how good he makes liu. I feel like lao makes liu a completely different character. I think cyrax and lao kameos will catch nerfs whenever NRS decides to actually look at balance. And without lao I think liu is still good just not nearly as good. With lao he gets a low fireball and IMO best strike throw in the game due to the back throw combo

I was having a hard time with it too, this might sound obvious but make sure you are cleanly pressing 3 three times and not mashing at all. That's how i was messing it up
