@@steele1 Noob Saibot's real name is Bi-Han. The old sub-zero. Once sub zero was killed, he was ressurected by Quan Chi into Noob Saibot. The new sub zero in this game is Kuai Liang. Fun fact: Noob Saibot is just the names of Boon and Tobias flipped. Boon - Noob, Saibot - Tobias.

I give MK9 nothing but praise. One of my favorite aspects of it are the endings, most if not all of which are simply really cool. I just love shit like the irony of Johnny turning into a monk (as well as the Seido namedrop). It's another place MK1 fumbled, because instead of fun "what if" endings it tries an "epilogue to the story mode" approach which is fucking boring because there's no variety and zero closure for the sake of the status quo. You don't find out what the characters did, you find out what they _want_ to do, and the towers also now exist in this weird bubble with no connection to the rest of the game. Even the two guest endings so far amount to "I WASN'T HERE.... BUT NOW I AM. GUESS I'LL GO KILLIN AGAIN!" Compare that to Alex Murphy becoming what amounts to the god of law enforcement or the Joker living out Shang Tsung's greatest fantasy.

MK9 was peak Mortal Kombat, characters looked cool instead of lame actors wearing cosplay in a "realistic" artstyle. The stages had that classic Mortal Kombat design, the gameplay was fun and you could actually unlock good stuff in the Krypt.

I hated mk11’s goofy retro/80’s aesthetic and almost every character wearing spandex or superhero cowls. Not to forget, the facial models were plain ugly. Superhero spandex tights were a bad look for Mortal Kombat. Mk1’s aesthetic was a bit better than 1, but still funny looking for many character models/designs. Mk1’s user interface(U.I) was ugly too. The U.I looked like it was designed for a mobile game.

1:25 It worked because ALL OF THE OG MK DEVS were still working on the game, and WB interfered VERY LITTLE in the creative process. Now unfortunately most if not ALL of the original Midway team has retired from the industry, and WB has meddled more and MORE since MKX

I mean, the 2011 reboot basically just did the first three games in 3D. That's it. The overall story started going downhill, as it usually does once time travel gets involved, but this new one went off the rails. Now I guess only guest characters are the only interesting thing, but they've used all the boomer once already, so don't know how far the modern ones can take them.

@@vividergaming8036I think the modern Mk(Mk9, MKX, MK11,MK12) just all had lackluster stories in general. Gameplay wise, I only enjoyed MKX and MK9. Both MKX and MK9 were better than the last 2 installments in terms of: general gameplay, aesthetic/art-style, and content variety/quality.

It's so sad because I don't hate some of them. Mileena's first (not the second) alternative costume is super cool and so is Sindel's. but the other Mileena alternative + Kitana being a princess in a bikini was sooo weird, for a reboot they kept a lot of the super skimpy designs, even Sonya looks just laughable. Then again, I prefer this to the modern blandness of the female designs, god MK1 Mileena, Kitana, Nitara and Li Mei just kinda look wrong, it's so strange

I think MK1 is great but we've had so many mk games the burnout can be real and $80 at launch plus $50 for dlc etc. Smart consumers will just wait until the expansion with all dlc with mk 1 is out for $30.

I took a huge break from gaming. I left when MK3 released in arcade and returned with MK9 with PS3 because Freddy caught my attention. my favorites are MK9 and MKXL. It seems the only Mortal Kombat I feel I missed out over the decades were Shaolin monks and that made me buy a new PS2

@@Dev_A_Station that’s probably why you hate it because you treat it like mk11 tag towers when they don’t interact the same in mk1. I treat mk1 kameos like an extension of the main character not a separate character. And tag was only towers and much more limited in what they could do. You don’t have to like the kameo system but trying to say it’s nothing new is crazy. It’s much better than mkx imo with only 3 ways of playing each character, in mk1 each Kameo can add an entirely different way of playing yours.(not saying mk1 is a better overall game but with variations it is)

I didn’t even watch the tittle and I agree with you. I miss actually playing 2vs2 characters, those bloody and bone injuries while fighting, the camera turns instead of this 2D movement, when you choose when to make the X-ray, and no pay to win bs.

The timeline was restarted and Liu Kang essentially made these alterations to avoid conflicts. It's not as bad as you make out. The multiple timeline aspect of it, is in fact very interesting and opens up a lot of possibilities. I was also someone who looked at it with a fair amount of scepticism going in and didn't dive into it until yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by it.

bruh, back in 2011 before the complete edition was released. you had to buy the MK1 classic skins and dlc characters. the DLC charcaters were never free until they were included with the komplete edition in 2012

MK9 Is the best game Netherrealm still made because it feels like they cared, while I think MKX is good and MK11 is passable, I havnt even bothered TRYING to play MK1, it looks so lame and so greedy like they dont care anymore, while the fatalities are a little iffy at times, and while the game balancing is wack competitively, Its still a great mortal kombat game with lots of love and charm put into it, its still quick and snappy enough where I can play it and not be slow and too sluggish of a game. Amazing game through and through, best part is? I can fit it on my xbox one without having to download so much damn game content. Edit: the reason your X ray didnt work with Cyber Sub Zero is because it has to be initiated in the air.

I got this game originally around release for Vita for like $15 (GameStop randomly would have these insane price drops at the time) after having been out of the series since a little after Deadly Alliance and was super impressed. After that I've made a sort of habit of picking up each title a few years after the "Komplete" edition releases. I only just finished up MK 11 on PS5 around the time MK1 came out and will eventually pick that up like five years from now where I'll pay like a quarter the original price with more content.

Next MK: I predict Liu Kang is actually evil and will cheat on Kitana by being gay lovers with mk1's Shang Tshung. Somehow Shao Kahn is being portrayed as a good guy and all the characters are forgiving him so nonchalant. Raiden is evil, and the sorcerers are the good guys you root for. Oh, and some of the female characters will be lesbian lovers too. This modern age is fn predictable with their garbage

Mortal Kombat 9 had fatalities locked behind paywall. The classic skin pack had fatalities for scorpion, sub-zero and reptile. Also these skins were in the game from day 1 as you could see them in the challenge towers, but to use them in any game mode you had to pay for them. They were already scummy back in the days as well...

@opalander yes it does matter, you can't justify a game is better just because one is cheaper now comparing to a game that just came out a few months ago. Mk9 is only cheap to get because it's a 13 year old game that has devalued off from the market a long time ago. The importance on what would be better than the newer game would be the story and gameplay.

The fatalities are $3 now. The combo potential and flexibility in combo routes is like no other mortal combat. They just need to keep the characters coming. All the pro players agree this game plays best and has the most potential. The studio got rushed but I think we’ll get there. I’ve been addicted since it came out.

MK9 was chef's kiss for the franchise. Only thing is that it was pretty broken af, even some of the lower tier had something extremely unusual for fighting games. Although that was also the charm. Imagine this game in modern day - remove some of the legit glitches, and crossplay/rollback. It would be on and poppin

I honestly wouldn’t say that it’s better than mk1 lol. But I do love the mk2 atmosphere that mk9 has. And there WERE issues with mk9. Especially when it came to the story and certain character interpretations. I feel like you either weren’t there, or were too young during its release with some of these claims you’re making

They didn't follow the original mk recipe. I think the added the eggs to late and the they'd no oragano so they substituted it for micro trans actions after 1 hour in the oven it came out f*#ked always follow the recipe. Great video pal yeah I found myself returning to mk 11 because I don't have mk 9 but I'm buying a used x box 360 because they messed up all the games over the last 3 year, would you aggre with me on that. As I said loved the video I'm getting the 360 for this game and others and your right this looks like it plays like the mk we grew up with, pal stay safe and well hope one day we will get the mk we deserve...

I would really like to learn how to play MK9. I love the designs in this game. But I just can't do it, the controls are too old, and I just can't combo with any character.
